Fox News reporter fact-checks Tucker Carlson’s stunning claim about Biden admin – Musk and Catturd weigh in

by

The Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson once referred to as a “so-called reporter” once again fact-checked her former colleague over a claim about the Biden administration and got blasted on social media.

The network’s national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin took issue with a claim made by the former Fox News host over something he claimed was said by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. But her response seemed to earn biting pushback on X where users quickly called her out.

“The Biden administration is openly threatening Americans over Ukraine. In a classified briefing in the House yesterday, defense secretary Lloyd Austin informed members that if they don’t appropriate more money for Zelensky, ‘we’ll send your uncles, cousins and sons to fight Russia.’ Pay the oligarchs or we’ll kill your kids,” Carlson wrote on X Thursday.

The platform’s users added context to the post and even X owner Elon Musk questioned the claim.

“He really said this?” he wrote, and Carlson replied, “He really did. Confirmed.”

“When persuasion doesn’t work, they use threats next,” GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy chimed in.

Griffin soon jumped in to refute Carlson’s claim, citing “two sources who were in the briefings” but were not named.

“This characterization of Austin’s remarks is 100 percent not true, acc to two sources who were in the briefings,” she wrote. “Austin warned that it is not hyperbole to say Putin won’t stop at Ukraine. If he enters NATO territory US troops could be called to fight; cheaper to fund Ukraine now.”

Griffin has fact-checked Carlson before, prompting on-air remarks by the former “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host and others.

Earlier this year, Carlson appeared to take a shot at Griffin again, accusing her of “knowingly telling lies” on behalf of the nation’s intelligence agencies.

“But I can tell you, having lived it for many years, it’s true. The intel agencies have a big effect on what is broadcast on television and what you see on Facebook and Google,” he told comedian Adam Carolla on his podcast in August.

“And, you know, there are a lot of anchors, who, including people I know well and have worked with at different networks. I’m thinking of one in particular, a national security reporter who was just a mouthpiece for the Pentagon in the CIA and is knowingly telling lies on their behalf,” Carlson said.

“There are very well-known national security reporters, and I’m thinking of one female national security reporter in particular who just reads lies from the national security state,” he added.

Meanwhile, many X users were not impressed with Griffin’s latest fact-check on Carlson.
