U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ripped into House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) over aid for Ukraine and wondered if he is “being blackmailed.”
The Georgia Republican speculated about why the speaker “made a complete departure” from what he stood for during an interview with Tucker Carlson. Greene filed a motion to vacate Johnson last month after he helped push through a $1.2 trillion funding bill to avoid a partial government shutdown. She has continued her sharp criticism of Johnson and discussed his apparent about-face with Carlson in an interview released on Wednesday.
Johnson mentioned the REPO for Ukrainians Act during an interview on “Sunday Night in America With Trey Gowdy.”
“The REPO Act, you know — if we can use the seized assets of Russian oligarchs to allow the Ukrainians to fight them, that’s just pure poetry,” Johnson said, adding that “we’re not just giving foreign aid, we’re setting it up in a relationship where they can provide it back to us when the time is right.”
Greene tore into Johnson’s remarks after Carlson suggested Johnson is cooperating with the Biden administration to make Ukraine a priority.
What is it that radically changes a man like Mike Johnson?
He has fully abandoned his conservative principles to fund the radical wishlist of Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, and the Democrats.

Greene revealed that even top GOP lawmakers have not been told what is in the pending foreign aid package that will award $60 billion to Ukraine. And with the invasion at the U.S. southern border, the congresswoman said she is “pissed off” with other “fed up” Americans that the security and well-being of our own nation is taking a back seat for Johnson and other so-called Republicans.
She accused Johnson of “tying” the hands of the GOP by pushing the funding bill next week as she continued to tear into the speaker whom she says is not what he appeared to be.
“But now Mike Johnson has made a complete departure of who he is, and what he stands for, and to the point where people are literally asking, is he blackmailed? What is wrong with him because he’s completely disconnected with what we want?” she asked.
“Do you think he is being blackmailed?” Carlson questioned.
“I have no idea. I can’t comprehend, Tucker, what radically changes a man. I mean, if we break down the second part of basically an omnibus. Let’s break that down. So Mike Johnson is pro-life. And the second part of the omnibus, just less than two weeks ago, he funded full-term abortion clinics, full-term abortion clinics. He funded the trans agenda on children. I mean, how does that even happen from a Christian conservative Republican speaker?” Greene wondered.
“He did nothing for the southern border, did nothing to secure the border. And this comes on the heels of Laken Riley being brutally murdered. This came on the heels of a video that was running on loop on social media, where illegal aliens had rushed our border, ran over Texas National Guard, ran over Border Patrol agents in order to invade our country. These were military-age men, by the way,” she contended.
“He did nothing to secure our border. It’s the number one issue in the world,” Greene emphasized.
“He completely changed who he was, funded the FBI, gave them a brand new building, fully funded the Department of Justice that is persecuting everyone on the right and actually targeting presidential candidate for election this year. Literally trying to put him in jail the rest of his life. We don’t know who Mike Johnson is anymore,” she added.
Carlson thought something was “amiss” and suggested Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other leaders in Congress actually lie about their personal lives.
“I have noticed just from living in Washington for so long that a lot of the top decision-makers are lying about their personal lives, and there’s something, you know, really amiss there,” he said. “And I would definitely say a Mitch McConnell would be among those. And there does seem to be a connection between the creepiness of your personal life and the deception around your personal life and your willingness to vote with the other side.”
Greene also ripped into Johnson for voting to fund the military and arms industry, as well as full-term abortion clinics, and the “trans agenda on kids.”
“You can’t help but to question, what do they have on him? Is he being blackmailed? What would make this man do this?” the GOP lawmaker wondered.
