Lindsey Graham defends Hunter Biden over gun charges: ‘I don’t see any good coming from that’

by

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) came under fire for appearing to defend Hunter Biden as his federal gun trial kicked off on Monday.

The South Carolina Republican suggested that the “average American” would not be charged with crimes such as those faced by the son of President Joe Biden, a man Graham has previously referred to as “a good friend.”

“I think any average American who’s done their taxes like Hunter Biden would have probably faced prosecution,” the senator said, according to a post by HuffPost senior politics reporter Igor Bobic.

“I don’t see any good coming from that,” Graham reportedly added.

Opening statements in the Hunter Biden trial are scheduled for Tuesday. A jury comprised of six men and six women was reportedly selected on Monday as the trial kicked off in Delaware. The younger Biden, who was in attendance as was first lady Jill Biden, whose birthday coincided with the event, is accused of lying about his drug addiction on an application when purchasing a firearm in 2018.

The president issued a statement in support of his son.

“I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” Biden said Monday. “As the President, I don’t and won’t comment on pending federal cases, but as a Dad, I have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength. Our family has been through a lot together, and Jill and I are going to continue to be there for Hunter and our family with our love and support.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Graham was blasted on social media for his spineless hypocrisy in defending Hunter Biden.
