New video footage released appears to show the would-be assassin who shot at former President Donald Trump as he lay dead on the rooftop in Pennsylvania.

The shocking bodycam footage was released not by investigators or law enforcement, but by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley. The graphic video shows the lifeless body of Thomas Crooks atop the roof where he fired at Trump, wounding him and others and killing a local retired firefighter on July 13. Local cops and a Secret Service agent are seen in the video standing over the 20-year-old’ amid a trail of blood and appear to confirm that he was deemed suspicious before he fired his weapon.

“For the past 10 days, questions have only been building regarding the catastrophic security failure that occurred on July 13. Federal agencies, particularly the Secret Service, have failed to be transparent with the American people,” Grassley said in a statement posted on his website along with the video. “This assassination attempt is a matter of signifcant public interest, and the public’s business ought to be public. I’m releasing these records as part of my efforts to get answers and hold agencies accountable.”

Grassley posted the clip along with the note: “Vid obtained from Beaver Co Emergency Services Unit in compliance w congressional requests.”

“So this is the guy,” one man in the footage who appears to be a Secret Service agent says to a Beaver County Emergency Service Unit officer.

“This is him,” the officer replies, adding that a police sniper had taken photos of Crooks that included one of him on a bicycle.

“That’s the sniper that sent the original picture and seen him come from the bike and set the book bag down and then lost sight of him,” the officer can be heard telling the man who is presumed to be the Secret Service agent.

Other law enforcement officials are then seen scrolling through photos on a phone.

According to reports, Crooks was identified as someone suspicious before Trump had even taken the stage at the Butler, Pa. rally. Secret Service had reportedly been informed but the former President was allowed to take the stage anyway with no indication that there was any kind of threat. Minutes into his speech, Trump was hit by a bullet fired by Crooks.

While the former president’s ear was grazed by a bullet and escaped a fatal shot, two of his supporters were critically wounded and another, retired firefighter Corey Comperatore died when he used his own body to shield his family from the bullets.

“Federal agencies, particularly the Secret Service, have failed to be transparent with the American people,” Grassley said in a statement. “This assassination attempt is a matter of substantial public interest, and the public’s business ought to be public.”

In addition to posting the video footage, the Iowa Republican also noted that he had obtained documents from law enforcement.

He demanded answers for the “catastrophic failure” in a letter to the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in which he asked pointed questions about specifics from the day, such as whether drones were used and if a nearby water tower had been “cleared in advance of the rally.”

“The Secret Service must provide its operational security plan showing the locations and roles of all federal personnel assigned to secure the July 13, 2024 event. Please provide answers to the following no later than July 30, 2024,” the letter, written on the same day Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned.
