Notably absent from the Democrat endorsements pouring in for Vice President Kamala Harris is any direct word of support from former President Barack Obama.

While he issued a letter praising President Joe Biden’s “patriotic” decision to end his re-election bid just hours after Biden’s announcement, Obama did not openly endorse Harris to take up the torch and continue as the party’s nominee.

According to a Biden family source, “Obama’s very upset because he knows she can’t win.”

“Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her,” the source told the New York Post. “When you are running for president there are things you can and can’t say.”

The comments come amid speculation that Biden did not willingly step aside and that there was an “elaborate set-up” behind the scenes to remove him from the top of the Democratic ticket, including allowing him to debate former President Donald Trump.

“Wait until the debate… She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid,” the source told The Post, referring to a second debate that was originally scheduled for September 10. “Obama knew this was going to happen, Joe knew this was going to happen. Now she is going to have to answer real questions.”

“According to the source, Obama’s hope was to get Biden out of the way and an article written by George Clooney in the New York Times asking him to step aside was a part of that plan,” the outlet reported. “However, the higher ups in the Democratic Party didn’t count on Biden endorsing Harris right away and ‘Obama was shocked’ when Joe endorsed her, according to the insider.”

The source stated that Obama had wanted to get Arizona Senator Mark Kelly “at the top of the ticket” for next month’s  Democratic National Convention and is “furious” that things are unfolding differently.

“Obama being surprised by a smart political decision actually makes sense when coupled with his personal inability to see politics beyond his singular, immediate interests,” one source, described by The Post as a “well-placed Democrat,” said. “Obama always thinks he is the smartest and coolest guy in the room. He’s friends with George Clooney, after all.”

Former Democrat governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich blasted Obama as an “an old-fashioned ward boss” in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Tuesday. He told The Post that the former president “was instrumental” in getting Biden to end his race.

“Without Obama, Biden is still the Democratic nominee. Obama was the conductor leading the orchestra that convinced Biden to step aside,” he said.

“He’s running the Democratic party like a Chicago ward boss from the shadows in the back room,” Blagojevich added. “In this case it’s a big backroom because he has a lot of big houses.
