Apple’s Entrepreneur Camp: No white or Asian men allowed

by

Apple’s new “Entrepreneur Camp” is accepting applications but white and Asian men should probably not trouble themselves with applying.

“Apple Entrepreneur Camp is designed for established app-driven businesses that are ready to join our exclusive technology lab and actively engage with our alumni community,” the company states.

“Research shows that founders from underrepresented communities face unique challenges, especially when starting and leading technology companies,” Apple explains, noting the goal of the camp is to support them by offering “programming for founders and developers who are female*, Black, Hispanic/Latinx, or Indigenous.”

The camp includes lab weeks that are aimed at “Female founders and underrepresented founders” among others and is open to applicants worldwide – excluding the races and genders not listed in the eligibility requirements.

“We created Apple Entrepreneur Camp with the goal of supporting these founders and their organizations as they build the next generation of cutting-edge apps and to form a global network that encourages the pipeline and longevity of underrepresented founders and developers in technology,” Apple states.

With the federal government pushing DEI initiatives on every level, Apple’s focus on “equity” rather than “equality” seems to fit right in to the narrative. And presenting their training as a “camp” rather than a hiring process skirts the edge of what seems legal.

The company was ripped by social media users outraged by the blatant discrimination.
