‘So, where do the white constituents go?’ DNC schedule shows off Democrats’ love of segregation

by

The kickoff schedule for this week’s Democratic National Convention seems to reinforce criticism of the party for continuing to sow division in the nation.

With the start of the four-day convention in Chicago, the overall theme will be “For the People, For Our Future,” and each day will have its own focus. Monday will see President Joe Biden, whose re-election bid was pulled out from under him, address the crowd in the evening.

But the lineup for the theme of “For the People” on Monday had social media users quickly noting that it was made up of several meetings broken up by racial makeup.

After breakfast and the morning press briefing, there will be concurring 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. meetings for the Black Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, Asian American or Pacific Islander Caucus, and the Native American Caucus. There is also and Ethnic Council meeting. The groups meet again on Wednesday.

These are followed at 12 p.m. by other groups meeting up including the LGBTQ+ Caucus. To be fair, the DNC meetings lined up over the four-day event are heard toward specific interest groups to address unique needs.

But the optics of the Monday morning schedule had many on social media criticizing the hypocrisy of the “unity” message and the number of certain groups that did not earn their own meeting.
