(The Center Square) – Vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and former President Bill Clinton are expected to take the stage Wednesday evening as Democrats continue roll out their platform at the convention in Chicago.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries are also set to speak during the third night of convention speeches.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear praised Walz and Walz’s record as the governor of Minnesota.
“He’s a teacher, a coach and a life-long hunter,” Beshear said. “Like Vice President Harris, he has worked around the clock to help middle class families get ahead.”
Beshear said Walz brought Minnesota’s unemployment rate to the lowest in country in recorded history and signed the largest tax cut in state history.
The convention continues Wednesday after pro-Palestinian protests late Tuesday turned violent during a confrontation with police outside the Israeli consulate.
Democratic leaders again warned of a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Harris-Walz Communications Director Michael Tyler said it would be “a very close election. On Tuesday, he described it as a “margin-of-error race.” Former President Barack Obama made similar comments Tuesday during his prime-time speech at the convention. He described it as a “tight race in a closely divided country.”
