DNC attendees have MAGGOTS slipped into their breakfast; FBI investigates

by

Delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago had an unpleasant start to their day Wednesday that included the Chicago Police and the FBI.

Law enforcement converged on the Fairmont Hotel after reports that there had been maggots found in breakfast prepared for delegates attending the DNC. Though it was not clear if anyone had eaten any of the contaminated food, WGN-TV reported that one victim had been treated and released at the scene.

The maggots were reportedly brought into the hotel and placed on tables that contained food. A law enforcement source told WGN-TV that an investigation was underway at the hotel where U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was scheduled to speak on Wednesday morning.

“Multiple unknown female offenders are alleged to have entered a building (200 block of North Columbus Drive) and began placing unknown objects onto tables containing food,” the DNC’s Joint Information Center said in a statement. “The offenders are believed to have then left the area. One victim was treated and released on-scene. Along with CPD, FBI-Chicago is assisting in the investigation. No further information is available at this time.”

“They protected us, of course, and turned it around in minutes,” Tracy Boyd, an Indiana delegate told the outlet, saying her group was informed that their breakfast would be delayed as Chicago police officers and Illinois state troopers gathered near meeting rooms.

“I really do want to give a shout-out to the hotel staff and leadership,” Boyd said.

Fairmont Chicago hotel spokesperson Haley Robles told WGN “We can confirm that a group of individuals caused a disruption at a DNC-related breakfast event at our hotel this morning.”

“Our team acted immediately to clean and sanitize the area, ensuring that the event could continue without further incident,” Robles added.

“All Americans have the right to peaceful protest, but ugly attacks like this have no place in our democracy,” Indiana Democratic Party spokesperson Sam Barloga.said. “We thank the security team for responding swiftly.”

A local history professor expressed concern more for the security breach at the hotel than the actual infestation.

“It’s a low-level thing. It’s about messaging,” Tom Mockaitis, a DePaul University history professor, said of the activists behind the incident who have still not been caught by law enforcement.

  1. So this is what the FBI is doing instead of investigating attempted Trump assassination. Figures.
