The NFL season kicked off with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Baltimore Ravens but two well-known faces drew a different kind of attention off the field.

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes cheered on the Chiefs but, unlike last season when the two were nearly inseparable at games and off the field, the women did not sit together Thursday night.

Pop superstar Swift was seen in videos and images posted online sitting in a suite with Ed and Donna Kelce, the parents of her beau, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, Mahomes, the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes sat in a separate suite and posted a video of her with daughter Sterling Skye.

“Swift and Mahomes were seen sitting in separate suites at Arrowhead Stadium amid a controversy surrounding Mahomes’ recent displays of support for Donald Trump,” Fox News reported.

“Mahomes, a 29-year-old pregnant mother, first indicated her support for Trump on Aug. 13 when she liked Trump’s Instagram post that outlined the ‘2024 GOP platform,'” Fox News added. “The like ignited a firestorm of backlash against the wife of the superstar quarterback. In fact, the critics included fans of Swift. Multiple fan pages dedicated to Swift posted the screenshots of the like on social media, spreading the reach of the backlash.”

Mahomes responded on her Instagram account>

“I mean honestly, To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” she wrote. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

“Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind,” the pregnant mother of two wrote in another post last month. “Read that again!”

Former President Trump thanked Mahomes for her support.

“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless “leaders,” it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!”
