Bad angle or did Tim Walz give a vocal Trump supporter the middle finger?

by

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared to be anything but the “cool dad” Democrats have been touting him as when he was heckled at a football game.

The Democratic vice presidential candidate was attending the Michigan-Minnesota college football game on Sunday where he was welcomed with boos and heckling by the crowd. At one point, he seemed to be caught flipping the middle finger to students attending and as one reportedly yelled “Trump 2024 Baby!”

Walz attended Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor and watched from a private box shared by former US Rep. Beto O’Rourke, according to Fox News which noted that “fans waited outside and gave him a harsh farewell.”

“A little rain can’t keep us from the big Michigan-Minnesota game! And it’s not gonna stop these students from making sure that everyone on their campus is registered to vote,” Walz posted on X as he tailgated before the game.

But there seemed to be more fans unhappy that he was there and social media users shared a clip of Walz at the moment he appeared to react to Trump supporters with the gesture, exposing an angry side of the governor that flies in the face of his portrayal as America’s ‘Cool Dad’ and a joyful coach.

“Is this who you really want as VP, someone who can’t even maintain composure or control himself?” one X user asked.

“Really showing his ex-teacher, vice presidential maturity getting rattled by some college kids. Weak!” wrote Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk.

Other images were also shared on X, some that suggested the moment was not as it appeared from the angle of the video.

But the reactions continued to pour in on a rough afternoon for Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.

“Walz’s visit to the Michigan vs. Minnesota game was odd from the start. Despite being Minnesota’s governor, he was rooting for the Michigan Wolverines instead of the Golden Gophers, which earned him boos from all sides—Minnesota fans upset with his disloyalty, Michigan fans who assumed he was backing their opponent, and Trump supporters who have long disliked him for everything from his stolen valor to his effeminate mannerisms,” the X account @amuse noted.
