Trump leading Harris in state GOP hasn’t won In nearly 25 years: Poll

A poll released late Sunday revealed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a slight lead in New Hampshire, a state Republicans haven’t won in 24 years.

Friday polling showed the former president remained three points behind Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris but has since flipped the lead, now ahead 50.2% to 49.8%, according to the NH Journal. The last time the state voted red was for former President George W. Bush over then-Democratic nominee Al Gore.

“There’s a reason Kamala Harris has been spending money in New Hampshire,” Karoline Leavitt, a Trump campaign spokesperson and New Hampshire native, told the NH Journal. “She’s on defense and knows President Trump is on the path to victory. To my fellow Granite Staters who want to keep our beautiful state safe, business-friendly, and free — get out and vote for President Trump. Kamala Harris is a radical liberal who would destroy New Hampshire and America forever.”

Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte also holds a lead over Democratic nominee Joyce Craig in the state by nearly four percentage points, polling at 51.9% to Craig’s 48.1%, according to the NH Journal.

Trump lost the state in his election bids in both 2016 and 2020, with President Joe Biden winning the state by over 7% in 2020.

Recent polling shows Trump leading Harris by two points nationally, 47% to 45%, according to The Wall Street Journal. Harris’ favorability among voters has also fallen from 50% in August to 45% in late October with her approval rating as vice president falling to just 42%, her lowest since announcing her presidential campaign.

The economy remains the most important issue for voters in New Hampshire, with 34% reporting it as their top issue this election, according to an earlier Emmerson College poll. New Hampshire voters were also 54% less likely to vote for a candidate that supported men competing in women’s sports, the NH Journal poll found.

The poll surveyed 622 registered voters between Oct. 24 and 26 with a margin of error of +/- 3.93%.
