The bloated US government is not a new problem.
When it comes to slashing, some educated economists have been champing at the bit for decades.
It’s all about “fundamental functions,” said famed economist Milton Friedman in a classic clip shared by Elon Musk Wednesday on X.
Heading up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Donald Trump’s blessing, Musk and fellow businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are about to start some heavy cutting and Friedman offers some timeless wisdom on the upcoming task.
“Milton Friedman was the best,” Musk wrote.
The clip shows how quickly the axe can cut. It’s not how sharp the tool is, but how sharp the leader handling the tool is. Confident Friedman, who passed away in 2006, tackles the list in a rapid-fire “thumbs up or down” manner. Listen:
