Big Guy’s 10-year suspicious pardon for Hunter covers way more than it should

by

President Joe Biden’s shocking decision to grant his son Hunter a full and unconditional pardon has critics noting the time frame would clear him of alleged corruption while on the Burisma board.

Potential crimes committed by Biden’s 54-year-old son “from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024” are covered by the document even though the current charges against him are related to convictions on federal gun and tax fraud charges that came to light in 2018.

“I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision,” Biden said in a statement released Sunday ahead of the expected sentencing of his son this month.

The statement went on to say that the lame-duck president issued a “full and unconditional pardon” for any offenses his son “committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024,”

The about-face by the president came after he had previously maintained that he would not issue a pardon for his son. Some noted the dates covered by the pardon also covered the time the younger Biden served on the board of the Ukrainian gas company.

“Truly incredible that Joe Biden pardoned Hunter starting in 2014 — the year he was appointed a board member of Burisma,” Greg Price wrote on X. “You can’t make it up.”

Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler also noted that Hunter Biden joined the Burisma board in 2014.

“By pardoning Hunter for any crimes he ‘may have committed’ from 2014-2024, Joe Biden is protecting his family’s criminal cartel. Wow. This pardon ain’t about the gun charge,” she wrote on X.

“The Big Guy is protecting himself from Kash Patel,” she added, citing the nickname Hunter used when referring to his father in a 2017 email and also referring to President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Kash Patel to run the FBI.

Others also noted the timing of the pardon.

A White House official denied any connection to Trump’s nomination of Patel.

“No – this is in response to what has already happened in this case, in which political pressure has resulted in a miscarriage of justice,” said the official.

Trump reacted in a short message on Truth Social where he referred to the many people convicted in the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” Trump wrote.“Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!”

Meanwhile on X, the reactions continued to note the pardon extended back to Hunter Biden’s time at Burisma.
