Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro brought some unwanted negative attention to her state of Connecticut after criticizing Elon Musk amid a potential government shutdown.
The congresswoman got the attention of the Tesla/SpaceX CEO who wondered, along with many on social media, about the “crazy lady with the purple hair.”
DeLauro claimed that Republicans are “scared” of Musk as she ranted Thursday in a speech on the House floor that brought more attention to herself and raised questions on X about “what the heck is going on in Connecticut”
“They got scared, because ‘President Musk’ told them. ‘President Musk’ said, “Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Shut the government down.” Imagine!” DeLauro said.

“What does he know about what people go through is when the government shuts down? Are his employees furloughed? Hell no. Is he furloughed? No,” she continued. “And when you shut the government down, people don’t get paid.”
“And maybe if none of us got paid if the government shut down, some people on the other side of the aisle would feel differently about where we’re going in this effort,” the Democrat said.
“We had an agreement. But you know, this is not different from what we’ve experienced over the last year and a half or so,” DeLauro claimed.
Musk vocally opposed the $1.7 trillion stopgap spending bill delivered by Speaker of the House Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.).
