A flight attendant was fired for posting a video clip of herself twerking in an empty plane has then launched a fundraising effort after losing her “dream job.”
Nelle Diala, a San Francisco-based flight attendant, was fired by Alaska Airlines after posting the clip on TikTok which quickly went viral.
“I never thought a single moment would cost me everything,” she wrote on the GoFundMe she launched earlier this month after her termination.
@_jvnelle415 Cant even be yourself anymore, without the world being so sensitive. Whats wrong with a little twerk before work, people act like they never did that before. #fyp #flightattendantlife 4evaa #discrimnationisreal ♬ Ghetto – E.K.E.
“I worked as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines for over six months. In between those 6 months both of my English bulldogs died unexpectedly, my relationship was rocky because of the time I spent away, but I loved my job—meeting new people, seeing the world, and creating a safe, welcoming environment for passengers,” Diala recounted.
“It wasn’t always easy, but I was proud of what I did,” she continued before plugging her business.
“Although this was my dream job I was using the income to fund my blossoming lingerie and dessert business,” she wrote, conveniently adding the names and links.
She was recently hired to a 6 month contract and the first thing she did was twerk on the plane.

“One day, during a layover, I posted a lighthearted video on my personal social media account. It was a harmless clip that was recorded at 6 am while waiting 2 hours for pilots. I was also celebrating the end of probation and making it out of a hard upbringing in San Francisco, CA . LIFE-something many people in the industry could relate to,” the former flight attendant explained.
She wrote that the clip went viral and “instead of love and support, it brought unexpected scrutiny.”
“Although it was a poor decision on my behalf I didn’t think it would cost me my dream job,” she added, claiming her employer “didn’t want to listen” to her explanations and that she was subsequently fired “without warning.”
Incredulously, Diala wrote that she’d “always been careful about what I share online” and that she “never thought this video, which didn’t even mention the airline by name, would cost me my career.”
“Losing my job was devastating,” she added. “Now, I am trying to figure out how to move forward.”
The clip initially had the caption, “‘ghetto bih till i D-I-E, don’t let the uniform fool you,” according to Daily Mail. But Diala reposted it, getting even more views, with a new caption that stated, “Can’t even be yourself anymore, without the world being so sensitive. What’s wrong with a little twerk before work, people act like they never did that before.”
The former Alaska Airlines attendant seemed to garner far less sympathy than curious views and, as of this writing, has only raised $891 of her $12k goal on the GoFundMe page.
Going from high-flying to low-funding!

It is called professionalism and conduct unbecoming that puts the company in a bad light. Of course, she puts her hand out with a GoFundMe. Not surprised at all.

Alaska Air has a great reputation for being pretty classy. This isn’t in their wheel house to be twerking. She will grow up after learning she was in their plane and in their uniform.
