Trump: Week 9

by

The White House touted another “busy week” for President Donald Trump and his administration.

The 47th president saw the successful return of astronauts from space and major steps forward in implementing his policies as he rounded out week nine in office with “a host of resounding wins and reaffirming his relentless focus on safety, security, and opportunity for all Americans.”

Securing the Homeland

The president invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport nearly 300 illegal aliens, many of them alleged to be members of Tren de Aragua and MS-13. Trump thanked El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, sharing a video on Truth Social of alleged criminals arriving in El Salvador after being deported by the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that 68 Tren De Aragua members were arrested in less than a week.

“The Trump Administration and the Department of Homeland Security are committed to arresting and removing criminals from our communities. Tren De Aragua is a terrorist organization whose members are rapists, drug traffickers, and murderers. We will continue to make sure these dirtbags are removed from America’s streets and face justice,” said a DHS spokesperson.

The president took “decisive” action against Houthi terrorist bases in Yemen, sending a powerful message that they’ll be “completely annihilated.”

“The Houthi rebels attacked over 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones, sinking two vessels and killing four sailors, from November 2023 until January this year when a ceasefire began in Gaza,” the Associated Press reported. “Meanwhile Thursday, the Houthi-controlled SABA news agency acknowledged the rebels had been taking food aid out of a World Food Program warehouse without permission.”

Orders and Actions

  • Trump made good on a campaign promise and released thousands of documents related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.
“I don’t think there’s anything that’s earth-shattering,” Trump said this week. “But you’ll have to make that determination.”
  • The president signed an official directive removing radical “diversity, equity, and inclusion” from the U.S. Foreign Service and signed an order repealing former President Biden’s natural gas tax.
  • In a historic move, Trump directed Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin dismantling the Department of Education.

“We’re going to be returning education, very simply, back to the states where it belongs, and this is a very popular thing to do, but much more importantly, it’s a common sense thing to do, and it’s going to work. Absolutely, it’s going to work,” Trump said.

Congress will still have to approve the measure that effectively eliminates the Department of Education, which was first established in 1979 under then-Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

Investments/Economy

“Wholesale egg prices dropped for the third straight week — down more than 50% since President Trump took office,” the White House noted. “The nationwide average for gas declined for the fourth straight week, with average prices falling below $3/gallon in a majority of states.”

More multi-billion-dollar investments in the United States were announced this week. Johnson & Johnson announced investments of more than $55 billion over the next four years, a 25 percent increase from what the company invested during the Biden administration.

“Our increased U.S. investment begins with the ground-breaking of a high-tech facility in North Carolina that will not only add U.S.-based jobs but manufacture cutting edge medicines to treat patients in America and around the world,” said Johnson & Johnson Chair and CEO Joaquin Duato.

Chipmaker Nvidia will also be investing hundreds of billions of dollars over the next four years and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son announced a $100 billion investment.

“Having the support of an administration who cares about the success of this industry and not allowing energy to be an obstacle is a phenomenal result for AI in the U.S.,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.

The United Arab Emirates committed to a 10-year, $1.4 TRILLION investment in the U.S. economy.

Trump announced that Boeing will build the next-generation fighter jet, the F-47, for the U.S. Air Force.

“I’m thrilled to announce that at my direction the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet… Nothing in the world comes even close to it, and it’ll be called the ‘F-47,’ the generals picked that title,” he said.

Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to speak at a crypto conference in a prerecorded message for the Speaking at the Blockworks Digital Asset Summit.
He promised the U.S. would be the “crypto capital of the world.”

Earlier this month, the president hosted the first White House Crypto Summit.
