Trump: Week 11

by

President Donald Trump continues with his long-range vision of setting a foundation for America to be a “global powerhouse for generations to come.”

The White House touted the 47th president’s 11th week in office, highlighting some of the reasons Americans can celebrate in a wrap-up of the “wins” for the week. At the top of mind both at home and around the world was Trump’s declaration of “Liberation Day” for America.

Trump announced a “declaration of economic independence” from the Rose Garden as he unveiled 10% tariffs and reciprocal tariffs on countries that have taken advantage of the U.S. for decades.

“My fellow Americans, this is Liberation Day,” Trump said from the White House Rose Garden. “April 2, 2025, will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day America’s destiny was reclaimed and the day that we began to make America wealthy again.”

Despite the pearl-clutching by critics on the left and even some Republicans after stocks plummeted and the extent of the tariffs was realized, the president’s bold move has already lit a fire in other countries.

“Trump is not nervous,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said in his “Primetime” monologue Friday, listing the countries already lining up to make a deal with the administration.

Trump’s fearless policies have ignited the economy in other ways as well, as the White House noted:

  • Nissan abandoned plans to eliminate a shift at its Tennessee production facility.
  • General Motors announced it will increase truck production at its Indiana assembly plant.
  • Guardian Bikes announced it will expand its production capacity and grow its U.S.-based investment.
  • Equipment giant JCB committed to doubling the size of its new U.S. manufacturing facility.

Immigration

Three illegal immigrant MS-13 gang members were arrested in Florida who were wanted on first-degree murder charges. Another “high-ranking MS-13 member” linked to 11 murders was arrested in New York.

Seventeen “violent illegal immigrant terrorists” were sent out of the U.S. to El Salvador and more than 40 individuals were arrested in Texas during an operation targeting the Tren de Aragua gang.

“Since taking office, the Trump Administration has arrested 113,000+ illegal immigrants, deported 100,000+ illegal immigrants, and released just nine illegal immigrants into the U.S. — a staggering 99.995% decrease over the same period last year under Biden,” the White House noted.

The “Trump Effect” cannot be denied at the border, where migrant crossings “have slowed to a near halt,” according to a Los Angeles Times report.

Around the World

The president shared a post online of a recent airstrike on Houthi rebels.

Trump secured a $2 billion air defense deal with Poland, had a “productive call” with Vietnamese leader To Lam, who conceded on the tariff issue, and deployed “additional military assets to the Middle East as a warning to the Iranian regime,” according to the White House.

In addition, two U.S. citizens detained in Mexico were thankful to the president for securing their release and return home.

Economy

“The latest jobs report shattered expectations for the second straight month — highlighted by massive private sector job growth, a spike in full-time employment, wage growth, and an expanding labor market,” the White House noted. “Wholesale egg prices continued to drop, falling to an average price of $3 per dozen — or nearly 60% since January amid the Trump Administration’s efforts to combat the avian bird flu and repopulate the chicken supply.”

The March jobs report showed that 228,000 jobs were added in March, exceeding economists’ expectations of only 140,000.

“GREAT JOB NUMBERS, FAR BETTER THAN EXPECTED. IT’S ALREADY WORKING. HANG TOUGH, WE CAN’T LOSE!!!” Trump touted in a Truth Social post.

Executive Orders/Actions

The president addressed the live entertainment ticketing industry, taking aim at ticket scalpers and hidden “junk fees” in an order he signed with Kid Rock by his side.

The “Combating Unfair Practices in the Live Entertainment Market” order directs the Federal Trade Commission [FTC] to “take appropriate action to ensure price transparency at all stages of the ticket-purchase process” and “rigorously enforce the Better Online Ticket Sales Act.”
