Education Secretary Linda McMahon accepted Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s “invitation” after the Democrat challenged her to a meeting.
Warren issued her invite to McMahon last week as she challenged her to show up to a public meeting to “defend her actions to destroy public education.” The Massachusetts Democrat criticized McMahon for taking ” a chainsaw” to the Department of Education, which is exactly what President Donald Trump empowered her to do when he nominated her for the role.
Days after Warren’s spouting off video message, McMahon responded on social media, issuing a reverse invite to sit down with the lawmaker.
“While I do not have faith that your forum would elicit a productive dialogue, I welcome the opportunity to sit down with you in the future and discuss this Administration’s goal to make American education the greatest in the world,” the co-founder and former CEO of WWE wrote.
I received your invitation, @SenWarren.

McMahon also addressed Warren in a formal letter Monday, saying she looks “forward to continuing to set the record straight about the real reforms happening in this Administration.”
“I wish you the best of luck with your forum,” she concluded.”
Warren’s forum, scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, is entitled “Stealing the American Dream: How Trump and Republicans Are Raising Education Costs for Families.”
“Your appearance will provide you with an opportunity to defend the Trump administration’s policies, offer context for your actions to dismantle the Department of Education, and share your vision for ensuring that the American Dream becomes more attainable for all,” the Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee wrote in a letter to McMahon.
In the video message, Warren challenged that if the Education secretary “really believes in what she’s doing, she should show up and defended her actions.”
“Secretary McMahon, you ready to answer some questions?” she asked.
Not only did McMahon reply to the message, her response drew a wave of reactions on social media where X users knew Warren was in over her head.
Well that invite sounds like a “welcome to my trap” party! Lol

Ballsy move @EDSecMcMahon ~ Love it! Why would you be part of a forum that spews the same nonsense year after year after year while our kids suffer from their gross negligence and dereliction of duty. Return to meritocracy is the way~

How will YOU defend continued funding for an agency with such dismal results as the Education Department, @SenWarren? It’s neither effective nor necessary.

Why don’t you answer why the education of American Children is in the shitter? Why don’t you answer for the poor test scores, poor education levels, and the poor conduct in some schools? Why don’t you answer for what you have been responsible for and funding for decades? I’ll…
