‘Dear God … Why are you doing this?’ Dems storm out of vote on controversial Trump nominee led by shrill Cory Booker

by

In a move that shocked precisely no one familiar with the swampy tactics of the D.C. establishment, Democrat members of the Senate Judiciary Committee staged a dramatic walkout Thursday, moments before a crucial vote to advance President Donald Trump’s stellar judicial nominee, Emil Bove, to the full Senate floor. This theatrical display, a hallmark of the Left’s obstructionist playbook, underscores their desperate attempts to derail the America First agenda.

Senator Cory Booker, D-N.J., ever the grandstander, attempted to strong-arm Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, into delaying the vote. Booker demanded a full-blown circus to consider unverified “allegations” against Bove, supposedly from a former Justice Department attorney, Erez Reuveni, in a so-called “whistleblower report.” This is a classic tactic: invent a crisis, then demand endless debate to stall progress.

Booker, invoking a committee rule, tried to force more debate time, but Chairman Grassley, rightly refused to indulge the Democrats’ delaying tactics and called for the vote. This decisive action prompted the predictable, petulant exit of the Democrat members from the hearing room. Their walkout wasn’t about principle; it was about political theater, designed to generate headlines and obstruct a qualified conservative judge.

Just before his dramatic exit, Booker, in a fit of manufactured outrage, confronted Chairman Grassley. “What are you afraid of?” he shrieked, as Grassley attempted to maintain order and proceed with the vote. “Debating this [nomination], putting things on the record — Dear God,” he wailed, “that’s what we are here for.” This is rich coming from a party that routinely ignores the will of the people and the rule of law.

“This lacks decency, this lacks decorum, it shows that you will not hear from your colleagues,” Booker lectured Grassley, in another desperate plea. “You are a decent man,” he condescendingly added, begging for a “small window” of additional time before the committee vote. The hypocrisy is astounding: Democrats preach decorum while engaging in unprecedented obstruction.

“Why are you doing this?” Booker whined again. “What are they saying to you,” he demanded, referring to the Trump administration, “that is making you do something to violate the decorum, the decency and the respect of this committee to at least hear each other out?” This is the Left’s projection at its finest – accusing others of what they themselves are guilty of. The Trump administration is simply trying to appoint judges who will uphold the Constitution, not legislate from the bench.

Despite nearly an hour of the Democrats’ obstructionist rhetoric, President Trump’s nominee, Emil Bove, commendably cleared the committee in a party-line vote. This is a victory for common sense and for the President’s commitment to reshaping the judiciary with constitutionalist judges.

Still, other Democrats on the committee, including Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, D-NY, continued their shrill objections. They shamelessly attacked their Republican colleagues for not bowing to their demands and for refusing to give credence to the dubious allegations made by Reuveni. They also cited objections from “dozens of former state and federal judges, and hundreds of former federal prosecutors,” who, predictably, urged against confirming Bove to a lifetime appointment. These are the same establishment figures who have long resisted President Trump’s efforts to drain the swamp.

Whitehouse, in a moment of self-important drama, even invoked Shakespeare, declaring, “There’s something rotten in Denmark,” before flouncing out of the room. Perhaps the only thing rotten is the Democrats’ desperate attempt to cling to power and undermine a duly elected President.

President Donald Trump, a true champion of American values, announced earlier this year the nomination of senior Justice Department official and his former defense attorney, Emil Bove, to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. This is a brilliant choice, coming as the President continues his vital fight against so-called “activist” judges who routinely block his agenda and undermine our nation’s sovereignty. This nomination is a testament to President Trump’s unwavering commitment to appointing judges who will interpret the law, not make it.

Bove’s path to confirmation in the full Senate chamber, while facing the usual Democrat resistance, is a crucial step in restoring judicial integrity. The manufactured “concerns” over the “whistleblower report” are nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the Left’s fear of a judiciary that respects the Constitution.

Speaking to reporters after his dramatic exit, Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-CT, predictably described the Republicans’ decision to push through with the vote, despite the Democrats’ theatrical objections, as a “blatant violation of the rules of committee.” This is rich, considering the Democrats’ own history of bending and breaking rules when it suits their political agenda.

“I haven’t seen anything like it in 15 years in the U.S. Senate,” he lamented to reporters. “Just overriding, roughshod, the rules of the committee to silence members [on concerns involving] the nominees for lifetime appointments” on the federal bench, he whined. This is the typical hyperbole from the Left, who cry foul when their obstructionist tactics are finally thwarted.

“We can disagree about whether they should be on the court, but not about the rules that put them there.”

  1. Why is it the Dems always have a whistle blower when it comes to republican confirmations? Can you say Judge Thomas, Judge Kavinah, all “whistle blowers” proven liars with the hint of party payment for their blowing. Ridiculous.
