The apple doesn’t fall far … Maurene Comey pens self-righteous retaliatory message after being fired

by

In a move that has Democrats fired up, Maurene Comey, a seasoned federal prosecutor and daughter of controversial former FBI Director James Comey, was unceremoniously terminated from her post at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Her immediate response? A blistering memo to colleagues, warning that “fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought.”

Comey’s retaliation message, widely circulated, urged her former colleagues to “Do the right thing, the right way, for the right reasons without fear of retribution and without favor to the powerful.”

Reflecting on her nearly decade-long tenure, Comey lamented a stark shift: “For the majority of my nearly ten years in SDNY, fear was never really conceivable. We don’t fear bad press; we have the luxury of exceptional security keeping us physically safe; and so long as we did our work with integrity, we would get to keep serving the public in this office,” she wrote.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, in a brief statement Thursday, confirmed the decision originated from the Department of Justice.

The shadow of her father, James Comey, looms large over this situation. The former FBI Director, a vocal critic of President Trump, was famously dismissed during Trump’s first term after spearheading the discredited “Russia collusion” investigation – a politically motivated witch hunt that plagued the Trump administration for years and was later exposed as a baseless fabrication.

Unsurprisingly, many observers immediately connected Maurene Comey’s abrupt termination to her father’s controversial past and his role in the relentless attacks on President Trump. Is this a case of guilt by association, or a deeper purge within the federal bureaucracy?

Intriguingly, Maurene Comey was a key figure in some of the most high-profile cases targeting the global elite, including the prosecutions of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. She was also part of the team that pursued charges against Sean “Diddy” Combs, another case that has exposed the dark underbelly of powerful figures. Her involvement in these cases, which often touch on the very “powerful” she warned against favoring, adds another layer of complexity to her sudden dismissal.

Her memo further elaborated on the SDNY’s foundational principles: “Our focus was really on acting ‘without favor.’ That is, making sure people with access, money, and power were not treated differently than anyone else; and making sure this office remained separate from politics and focused only on the facts and the law,” Comey said in the memo, adding, “but we have entered a new phase where ‘without fear’ may be the challenge.” This commitment to equal justice, however, now faces an unprecedented challenge, as Comey ominously noted: “but we have entered a new phase where ‘without fear’ may be the challenge.” This chilling assessment speaks volumes about the current climate within federal law enforcement.

“If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain. Do not let that happen. Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought,” she added in the message. She implored her colleagues to resist this insidious pressure, urging them to let this moment “fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else.”

Meanwhile, James Comey continues to draw controversy, recently sparking outrage with a bizarre social media post featuring seashells arranged to form “86-47” – widely interpreted as a thinly veiled call for the removal, or worse, of President Trump. Comey’s dismissive labeling of the backlash as a mere “distraction” only further solidifies his image as a partisan operative rather than an impartial law enforcement figure.
