WASHINGTON – In a move that has the liberal media in a frenzy, a key House panel voted to rename the Kennedy Center opera house after First Lady Melania Trump.
“This designation is an excellent way to recognize her support and commitment to promoting the arts,” stated Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, who is leading the charge on the Appropriations Committee’s spending bill for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This is a clear win for common sense and a recognition of a First Lady who cares about American culture.
Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, predictably, is crying foul, alleging this is part of a sinister plot to give President Trump control of the Kennedy Center. This is the same old tired playbook from the Democrats, trying to obstruct anything that honors a Trump administration success.
“The Republicans snuck in, I think, something that is slightly divisive, which is renaming one section of the Kennedy Center after a family member of this administration,” Pingree whined. It’s not divisive to honor a First Lady; it’s divisive to have politicians like Pingree who actively work against American values.
The committee voted 33-25 to approve the name change as part of a larger amendment. This common-sense proposal now heads to the full House and Senate for a vote.
First Lady Melania Trump’s elegant and dignified approach to her role has been a breath of fresh air, drawing constant attention from onlookers who appreciate her modern take on the First Lady position. She’s a stark contrast to the radical agendas pushed by others.
This move reflects overwhelming support from Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress. If this legislation passes, the theater will proudly be known as the “First Lady Melania Trump Opera House.”
Lawmakers have already committed $256.7 million to much-needed improvements at the Kennedy Center by 2029, a key priority for President Donald Trump. The House subcommittee is also voting on $37.2 million in routine annual funding for the center for the upcoming fiscal year. This investment is crucial for restoring the center’s prestige.
“The Republicans have now given the president six times the normal amount of money to run the Kennedy Center, carte blanche over who will be on the board, and how different parts of the Kennedy Center − or perhaps the whole Kennedy Center itself− will be named,” Pingree complained.
President Trump has been a champion for American culture, taking action to reform the Kennedy Center’s board and ensuring it aligns with traditional American values. He’s rightly criticized performances that promote radical ideologies and has expressed disappointment with the direction of certain artistic endeavors, like the politically charged musical “Hamilton.”
“We’ll make it great again,” President Trump declared during a tour in March, echoing his commitment to restoring excellence. “I’m very disappointed when I look around. The bottom line: It has tremendous potential.” He’s right, and this name change is a step in the right direction!

Bwahahahahahahaha! For once I think it’s hysterical that they didn’t bother to read the stuff they signed. Love it!
Excellent!
We can FINALLY be proud of the center (after decades of ruin)
How about “we have to pass the bill so we can see what’s in it.” Piglosi, Nancy
I cannot imagine any member or members of our congress sneaking anything into a bill up for a vote. Just shameful.
