At a New Jersey hospital, the surgeon who reportedly celebrated the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk has resigned — while the nurse who stood up for decency and called him out has been reinstated.
Englewood Health confirmed Tuesday that Dr. Matthew Jung, a physician employed at the hospital, resigned after being accused of celebrating Kirk’s tragic death right in front of colleagues at the nurses’ station. The incident occurred shortly after the news broke that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk had been murdered in an apparent political hate crime.
According to reports, Dr. Jung made shocking comments applauding the murder of Kirk — a man known for championing conservative values, free speech, and Christian principles. Nurse Lexi Kuenzle was present at the time and courageously challenged the doctor, questioning how someone who took an oath to save lives could ever cheer the death of another human being — regardless of political beliefs.
Kuenzle took to social media shortly after the incident, sharing her firsthand account of what happened. Her post quickly went viral, sparking outrage — not over the doctor’s abhorrent remarks, but because the hospital initially suspended her. For speaking the truth.
However, after intense public pressure and scrutiny, Englewood Health has now confirmed that Kuenzle has been fully reinstated. “The nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts,” a hospital representative told the New York Post, also clarifying that she “was never fired; was never told she would be fired by Englewood Hospital; and will not miss any pay.”
Kuenzle, undeterred by her temporary suspension, has already taken legal action. She has filed a lawsuit in Bergen County Superior Court against Englewood Health, Dr. Jung, and other parties involved, asserting that her suspension was unlawful and retaliatory.
Englewood Health has attempted to quell the backlash, stating, “We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all.”
This time, however, the truth couldn’t be silenced.
