Nashville, TN — In an era where patriotism is increasingly painted as a political statement, rising country music star and conservative voice Alexis Wilkins is pushing back hard against the cultural tide. Her refusal to remove the American flag from her Instagram bio—despite pressure from industry insiders—has become a defining moment in her career, and a rallying cry for others who are tired of toeing the leftist line in entertainment.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Wilkins revealed how what began as a subtle display of pride for her country turned into a political firestorm behind the scenes.
“I was told to take an American flag out of my Instagram bio,” Wilkins said. “Or that I had to support certain things or do certain things in order to get booked on tours, in order to get signed to a label.”
Wilkins refused.
“There are things that ultimately have to give up, and I wasn’t willing to do that and bend the knee to that,” she stated firmly.
This isn’t just about symbols. For Wilkins, the fight for her freedom of expression began in college—long before she made waves in country music.
“I was given an F in a class that I have only ever gotten A’s in my life because of my politics,” she revealed. The failing grade, she believes, was retaliation for refusing to write anti-Trump essays that were assigned as part of the course curriculum.
“When he gave that to me just simply for not going along with the status quo, not writing the papers that denigrated the actions of the Trump administration… that was the point where I said, ‘okay, it looks like me not saying that I’m a liberal means that I am a conservative.'”
Wilkins decided it was time to draw a line in the sand.
“I think it’s time in this country that we did,” she added, referencing the cultural shift that has made even basic displays of patriotism subject to criticism.
Though country music has traditionally been a genre where love for America is welcomed, Wilkins points out that even within that space, ideological conformity is being enforced.
“The industry and some figureheads in the industry were just saying that me having an American flag in my bio was going to be seen as partisan,” she said.
Wilkins didn’t back down—she doubled down. Even when warned that affiliating with veterans organizations might be “seen as partisan,” especially during the 2016 election cycle, she refused to compromise.
“It was things that were fundamentally American and things that I wasn’t willing to compromise on,” she said.
Despite the pressure, Wilkins is continuing to grow her platform, refusing to let censorship or cancel culture determine her values or her voice.
Calling the idea that being proud of one’s country is partisan “ridiculous,” Wilkins hopes her story empowers others in the entertainment industry to stop living in fear of the woke mob.
“I wasn’t willing to bend the knee,” she said—and she means it.
In a time where silence is often rewarded and conformity is demanded, Alexis Wilkins is standing tall—American flag flying high.
