In a move aimed at accelerating America’s dominance in artificial intelligence, the Trump administration has finalized a groundbreaking partnership with Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI — giving every federal agency access to some of the most advanced AI models on the planet.
The General Services Administration (GSA) — the federal agency responsible for streamlining government operations, procurement, and technology services — announced Thursday a strategic deal with xAI that grants agencies access to Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast. The agreement is valid through March 2027 and is being hailed as a major step toward transforming government operations and keeping the U.S. at the forefront of global AI leadership.
“xAI has the most powerful AI compute and most capable AI models in the world,” said Elon Musk, CEO and co-founder of xAI, in an official statement to Fox News Digital.
“Thanks to President Trump and his administration, xAI’s frontier AI is now unlocked for every federal agency, empowering the U.S. government to innovate faster and accomplish its mission more effectively than ever before.”
Musk added, “We look forward to continuing to work with President Trump and his team to rapidly deploy AI throughout the government for the benefit of the country.”
Josh Gruenbaum, GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner, emphasized the urgency of implementing AI that aligns with American values — not Beijing’s.
“This technology could be as transformative as the internet, maybe more,” Gruenbaum noted.
“Right now, we’re in the human-augmentation phase, but soon agents will handle tasks independently. That raises major questions about whose values shape the future. We must ensure that American — not authoritarian — values lead the way.”
Gruenbaum said Musk’s firm “stood out” during evaluations for its unmatched technical talent and its willingness to work directly with federal agencies.
Under the agreement, xAI will embed engineers within the government to ensure smooth deployment and integration of the Grok platform, a powerful AI system that Musk says can streamline workflows, reduce costs, and expand the government’s capacity to serve Americans.
According to xAI co-founder Ross Nordeen, the new initiative — dubbed “Grok for Government” — will offer AI capabilities to agencies for just $0.42 per agency over the next 18 months, a symbolic price point signaling the administration’s commitment to public service and American innovation.
“We will work hand in glove with the entire government to not only deploy AI but to deeply understand the needs of our government,” Nordeen stated.
“This is about making America the undisputed world leader in advanced AI use — across both the public and private sectors.”
GSA confirmed that federal agencies can immediately begin using Grok AI through established procurement channels, without delays or bureaucratic red tape. The deal is the longest-running and most cost-efficient AI agreement the agency has secured to date.
Though Musk stepped down from his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) earlier this year following a brief rift with Trump, signs of reconciliation surfaced last weekend when Musk was seen sitting beside the president at the Charlie Kirk memorial service in Arizona.
“Elon came over and said hello,” Trump told reporters after the event. “I thought it was nice — we had a little conversation.”
Now, with xAI back at the table, the Trump administration is sending a clear message: America will not cede the future of AI to China or the woke tech cartel in Silicon Valley.
This partnership follows a string of high-profile Trump-led tech initiatives — including multi-billion-dollar contracts with Oracle and OpenAI, the Stargate project for massive domestic data centers, and a $90 billion AI infrastructure investment aimed at turning Pennsylvania into the AI hub of the nation.
In July, President Trump formally launched his AI Action Plan following a January executive order directing the federal government to “solidify America’s position as the global leader in AI and secure a brighter future for all Americans.”
This collaboration is part of the GSA’s broader OneGov Strategy, which seeks to modernize and unify government tech platforms under one mission: make America the leader in AI innovation. The xAI contract also includes an “upgrade path” to FedRAMP, the security standard for federal digital tools.
“From a milestone perspective, this is incredibly impressive,” Gruenbaum said.
“We got these frontier models onto the GSA schedules quickly — at dollar deals or less. This one is the best value yet, and with the longest duration. That’s a big deal.”
With this move, the Trump administration is once again proving that American leadership in AI is non-negotiable. The future belongs to nations that act boldly — and under Trump, the U.S. is doing exactly that.
