President Donald J. Trump lit up Truth Social on Sunday with a scathing takedown of professional race-hustler and left-wing MSNBC host Al Sharpton. Trump posted a throwback photo of Sharpton from the late ’80s—when he was considerably larger and decked out in red slacks, suspenders, and a gold chain the size of a hubcap—while unleashing a tirade that took aim not only at Sharpton but also at MSNBC, NBC, and the woke corporate cowardice behind their programming choices.
And yes, Trump was slightly off in his corporate lingo, referring to NBC rather than MSNBC, which is now being spun off by Comcast into a separate entity. But come on—MSNBC is basically NBC with a progressive Twitter account and less journalistic credibility.
The real point here isn’t the technicality. It’s the content, or rather the lack thereof. According to Trump, the only thing that comes out of MSNBC these days is wall-to-wall Democrat praise and endless Republican-bashing—on the taxpayer’s airwaves, no less. Trump even suggested the FCC should take a long, hard look at NBC’s license, given their blatantly partisan slant.
Trump didn’t hold back, slamming Comcast CEO Brian Roberts as a spineless executive too petrified to pull Sharpton off the air, even though PoliticsNation has been a ratings dumpster fire for years. Why? Because canceling Sharpton, no matter how unpopular or unwatchable he is, would be “Politically Incorrect.” Can’t have that in corporate woke-world.
But the post didn’t stop there. Trump dug into his own history with Sharpton, noting that for years, the reverend-turned-cable-host was a “major Trump fan.” According to Trump, Sharpton used to beg him to attend his rallies to draw crowds, since no one showed up otherwise. Trump was the main attraction, as usual, and Sharpton knew it.
Then came Sharpton’s infamous role in the 1987 Tawana Brawley hoax—a disgraceful chapter in American race relations where a 15-year-old falsely accused several white men of rape, igniting national outrage based on lies. Sharpton was one of the most vocal promoters of that fraud, which a grand jury ultimately determined to be fabricated. Trump didn’t mince words, calling it “one of the worst Low Level Scams in History,” and blaming it for taking a major toll on Sharpton’s credibility (well, among people who value truth).
Sharpton somehow landed on television years later, and despite his long record of falsehoods, divisive rhetoric, and race-based grifting, NBC (via MSNBC) decided he deserved a platform. And so, he remains, with one of the “Lowest Rated Shows in Television History,” as Trump put it.
Trump also pointed out that NBC—and networks like ABC—offer 97% negative coverage of Republicans. While the exact number might vary, the underlying truth rings loud and clear: conservative voices are routinely vilified by corporate media, while liberal pundits are propped up no matter how wrong, ridiculous, or irrelevant they’ve become.
Sharpton is just one example in a long line of left-wing figures who owe their careers to media companies more interested in virtue signaling than journalism. If Roberts and NBC had any real integrity, they’d have canceled PoliticsNation years ago. But instead, they’re keeping it alive for appearances—because nothing says “brave journalism” like clinging to a failed show hosted by a former hoax peddler, all in the name of political correctness.
If the FCC really wants to promote fairness on the airwaves, maybe it’s time to stop ignoring how networks like NBC have turned into glorified Democrat infomercials. Until then, Trump’s post serves as a not-so-gentle reminder that the media swamp is still alive, still dishonest, and still allergic to conservatives.
“I knew Al Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major “TRUMP” fan. He’d ask me to go to his fake Rallies all the time, because I brought BIG Crowds, and he couldn’t get anybody to come without me. Then he did the Tawana Brawley Hoax, one of the worst Low Level Scams in History, and that set him back, BIG TIME! Then he got to know Brian Roberts, Chairman of Fake News NBC, who gave him what would become one of the Lowest Rated Shows in Television History. Roberts is afraid to take him off because it wouldn’t be “Politically Correct.” This is just one of the many reasons that the Federal Communications Commission should look into the license of NBC, which shows almost exclusively positive Democrat content. Likewise, ABC Fake News — About the same thing, 97% negative to Republicans!”
