Things got heated on The View this week when actress Cheryl Hines, promoting her new memoir Cheryl Hines Unscripted, found herself forced to defend her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., from the show’s reliably left-wing panel.
Unsurprisingly, the conversation veered quickly from her book to political attacks on her husband — particularly his qualifications to head the Department of Health and Human Services. This isn’t new territory for The View, which frequently criticizes Kennedy’s views, especially his skepticism toward certain vaccines and Big Pharma’s influence on public health policy.
The most contentious moment came when co-host Sunny Hostin accused RFK Jr. of spreading “misinformation,” sowing “chaos,” and being “the least qualified” person to ever lead HHS. Never mind that Kennedy has spent decades in environmental law, successfully suing corporate giants for poisoning Americans with toxic chemicals. Hostin, with no medical degree of her own, doubled down, dismissing his track record.
Hines wasn’t having it.

Hostin used her airtime to smear Kennedy, claiming he was spreading “misinformation”, but Hines exposed how those labels were weaponized against him, even when he was right.

“Why is he less qualified than an economist?” she asked pointedly, referencing former President Obama’s 2014 appointment of Sylvia Burwell, who lacked a medical background but was tapped to run HHS anyway.
Hostin gave the predictable reply: “I think he is less qualified.” No explanation, just opinion.
Hines pushed back, highlighting her husband’s legal work holding companies like Monsanto accountable. “He has spent his career studying toxins, studying people’s health, fighting for one guy who was using Roundup for his job,” she noted.
But Hostin pivoted to the mainstream media’s favorite buzzwords, repeating the usual script: Kennedy has “spread a lot of misinformation, a lot of chaos, a lot of confusion.”
When Hines tried to respond with her own perspective on what counts as “misinformation,” Hostin interrupted again — this time bringing up the controversial claim that circumcision may be linked to autism. “He’s connected circumcision to autism!” Hostin exclaimed, before Hines shot back: “May I finish?”
Cheryl Hines, author of the new memoir ‘Unscripted,’ reflects on her husband HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “difficult decision” to go from being a Trump critic to backing him and later joining the president’s cabinet: “That’s a leap, but also it’s a leap of faith.” pic.twitter.com/nyWeGONdzc

This particular claim from RFK Jr. is tied to concerns about acetaminophen (Tylenol) used in infants post-circumcision, which he says may correlate with higher autism rates — a theory many in the medical establishment dispute, but one that’s still being researched. Kennedy’s broader point has been to push for more science and less censorship, a nuance completely ignored in the hostile studio.
In one of the more revealing exchanges, Hines brought up how her husband was silenced during the pandemic for simply asking questions that challenged the government’s ever-changing COVID narrative. “At the time, they were censoring Bobby, because Bobby said, where’s the science to show us this? And there wasn’t any,” Hines said. “But people attacked him and said, you’re wrong. So it’s like, let’s take a step back.”
Hines also pointed out how figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly made false claims — such as the idea that the COVID vaccine would stop transmission — statements that were later walked back. Still, no one on The View seems eager to revisit that era of “official misinformation.”
To her credit, Hines remained composed, despite the one-sided barrage. “Listen, we all have different views here,” she said. “That’s okay.”
Apparently, having “different views” is only okay until those views challenge liberal orthodoxy — especially on The View.
