Schumer threatens to complain to the FCC over Trump’s ’60 Minutes’ interview

by

When President Donald J. Trump sat down for a long-form interview with 60 Minutes, he knew there would be a buzz. As soon as CBS aired its edited 28-minute version of the conversation, liberal commentators and politicians began comparing it to the earlier controversy involving Kamala Harris’s interview on the same program.

That earlier episode saw Trump accuse CBS of cutting and shaping Harris’s remarks to make her appear more competent. He even filed a lawsuit against the network over what he called “voter interference,” which later resulted in a multimillion-dollar settlement. Now, in an ironic twist, Democrats are claiming that Trump’s own 60 Minutes interview was unfairly edited—and that somehow, this is grounds for FCC action.

Left-wing pundits immediately jumped into the fray. Commentator Ron Filipkowski complained online:

“So CBS settled Trump’s lawsuit where he frivolously sued because they edited Kamala Harris’s interview so it would fit into their air time. Then CBS does a 73-minute interview of Trump where they made big edits from the version that was broadcast. They aired 28 of 73 minutes.”

Not one to miss an opportunity for political theater, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer weighed in. On X, he sneered:

“Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview. It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris.”

Unfortunately for Schumer, the Trump team was already two steps ahead. While Democrats were crafting complaints and hashtags, the Trump campaign released the entire, unedited 73-minute interview on X for anyone to watch.

A post from the “Rapid Response 47” account announced:

“See President Donald J. Trump’s FULL interview on @60Minutes — all 73+ minutes, without the network’s edits and cuts.”

That’s right—transparency won the day. While Kamala Harris’s team and CBS initially refused to release the full transcript or raw footage of her interview, Trump’s team published everything. No selective editing, no narrative shaping—just the full conversation for the public to judge.
