In an explosive early-morning broadside, President Donald J. Trump demanded that six Democratic lawmakers be “ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL”, accusing them of fueling “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL” after they released a political video urging U.S. troops to reject “illegal orders.”
The controversial video—shared by Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and featuring Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) along with Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Maggie Goodlander (D-NH)—delivered a stark message aimed directly at the military and intelligence communities. Slotkin promoted it with the caption: “We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community. The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution. Don’t give up the ship.”
The lawmakers claimed, “This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens.” They went further, warning that “the threats to our constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home.” Their message hammered repeatedly: “You can refuse illegal orders. You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders… We have your back.” The video closed with several participants repeating the naval-themed rallying cry: “Don’t give up the ship.”
But Trump wasn’t having it.

Calling the message a dangerous attempt to undermine civilian authority over the military, Trump blasted out a Truth Social post declaring, “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT.”
What followed was a barrage of reposts amplifying supporters’ outrage—some using even harsher language—culminating in a second Trump post insisting, “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country… Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT.”
The Democrats’ video crosses a bright red line by insinuating that the military should decide for itself what constitutes a lawful order—a notion critics argue sounds uncomfortably like the seeds of insubordination. Meanwhile, the left insists they were merely reminding service members of long-standing legal obligations.
But Trump’s camp isn’t buying the spin. Democrats are playing with matches near a powder keg—and the president is demanding accountability before anyone lights it.
