Dashcam catches plane smashing into car on busy I-95!

by

Florida commuters were treated to a real-life disaster movie Monday evening when a small aircraft literally fell out of the sky and slammed into a car on busy I-95—an impact so violent that even seasoned crash investigators called the driver’s survival “miraculous.”

Dashcam footage—already ricocheting across the internet—captures the heart-stopping moment the “fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft” plummets toward the southbound lanes near Cocoa around 5:45 p.m., rush hour at its worst. The clip shows the plane divebombing the highway, clipping a 2023 Toyota Camry and sending a spray of sparks across the asphalt as horrified drivers hit their brakes.

The aircraft rear-ended the Camry with such force that it actually bounced on top of it, then skidded off to the side, its nose and wheel later found torn apart in the wreckage photos.

Somehow, the 57-year-old woman behind the wheel survived with only minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. She was rushed to a local hospital but is expected to recover—an outcome witnesses say borders on the unbelievable.

The miracle didn’t stop there. The 27-year-old pilot from Orlando and his 27-year-old passenger from Temple Terrace walked away without a scratch. Both stayed on scene, stunned but unhurt, awaiting investigators.

Witness Jim Coffey says he nearly became part of the wreckage himself. “We just saw this plane drop out of the sky,” he told Spectrum News 13. The aircraft missed his vehicle by mere seconds. His son, Peter Coffey, watching from the passenger seat, had the same chilling view.

“I noticed it was there, because there’s a plane right there, I was like, ‘Hopefully it lands to the side,’” Peter said. He barely finished the thought before disaster unfolded. “I thought it might maybe aim around and not hit the car, but bam, the wheel just smacked right dab on the back of the car.”

His father added, “Fortunately, the car didn’t roll, it kind of mashed and went to the side.”

Photos from the aftermath show the Camry’s trunk crumpled like a soda can and the damaged aircraft resting nearby, its landing gear destroyed.

The Federal Aviation Administration is now taking point on the investigation into the emergency landing, while FHP handles the traffic crash portion. For the shaken drivers who witnessed it, though, there’s only one conclusion: it’s a miracle the highway didn’t become a mass-casualty scene.
