Hip-hop megastar Nicki Minaj stunned the crowd at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix when she took the stage as a surprise guest alongside conservative commentator Erika Kirk. The pop culture icon was in full praise mode, rattling off compliments for the Trump Administration and even swooning over President Donald Trump as “handsome” and “dashing.”
Then came the nickname heard ‘round the internet.
“And you have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president. And when I say that—” Minaj said, abruptly stopping mid-sentence.
Uh-oh. Minaj instantly realized the flub — and the reaction said it all.
She winced, closed her eyes, and covered her mouth with her left hand as the crowd erupted in laughter, according to audio captured by Fox News. The moment landed awkwardly not because of intent, but timing — especially given the heightened national sensitivity around political violence in recent months.
Importantly, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk has not been killed or harmed, despite rumors and online confusion — a fact that made the crowd’s good-natured response all the more telling. Minaj fell silent for nearly a minute, collecting herself as the room waited.
That’s when Kirk stepped in — calm, unbothered, and unshaken. “Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard, so you’re fine,” Kirk told her.
She then pulled the microphone away briefly and added, “I love you.”
No outrage. No meltdown. No performative offense.
Just grace.
Kirk then turned to the audience and vouched for Minaj in a way that perfectly captured the moment — and the movement. “You have to laugh about it. Truly, I have been called every single thing… God is good. You let it roll right off your back,” she said.
And then the line that sent a message to the outrage machine: “If the internet wants to clip it, who cares?”
Kirk doubled down, praising Minaj’s character over a single word. “I love this woman. She’s an amazing woman. She has a soul and a heart for the Lord, and words are words. But I know her heart and it doesn’t even matter.”
Minaj, visibly relieved, thanked her “sister” for having her back. It was a moment the mainstream media rarely shows: conservatives extending forgiveness, humor, and unity — not cancellation.
The moment wasn’t an outlier. Minaj has increasingly broken from the Democratic playbook in recent months, openly criticizing left-wing politicians and narratives. On Sunday, she took a page straight from President Trump’s rhetorical handbook, referring to California Governor Gavin Newsom as “Newscum.”
Shortly after Minaj and Kirk exited the stage, Vice President JD Vance took the mic — and brought the house down. He declared that the Trump Administration had “relegated DEI to the dustbin of history.” Then came a line that captured the entire AmericaFirst ethos:
From now on, “you don’t have to apologize for being white anymore,” Vance said, adding that Asian Americans “don’t have to talk around your skin color when you’re applying for college.”
That’s how adults do politics.

So, I’m confused. Was Nikki saying the assassin is his nickname? or did she just say the wrong word at very inconvenient time?
Where is the disqus comment mode? That is easier to use.
