YouTuber Nick Shirley is once again shining a spotlight on alleged fraud in Minnesota—this time by returning to the Minneapolis daycare center that went viral over Christmas weekend and reignited scrutiny of Gov. Tim Walz’s record on oversight.
Shirley and his research associate, known only as “David,” revisited the Nicollet Avenue site on Tuesday, the same location featured in Shirley’s viral video that spread rapidly across social media. The clip drew renewed attention to what critics say is systemic fraud flourishing under Walz’s watch.
The pair arrived wearing matching hooded sweatshirts reading “Quality Learing Center,” a deliberate jab at the misspelling on the building’s signage, along with a bold “1-800 FRAUD” printed across the front.

Their return came as Minnesota’s Democrat-aligned media outlets rushed to dismiss Shirley’s reporting, defending both Gov. Walz and members of the Somali community tied to multiple fraud investigations. But federal prosecutors have told a very different story—describing the misconduct as “industrial-scale fraud.”
According to federal authorities, more than 90 individuals have already been charged in Minnesota-based schemes that drained billions of dollars from taxpayer-funded programs. Many of those cases stem from nonprofits and childcare-related operations that critics argue were allowed to operate with minimal scrutiny during Walz’s tenure.
The manager of the so-called “Quality Learing Center” previously claimed Shirley’s initial video was misleading, insisting it was filmed outside normal business hours and falsely implied the daycare was inactive. Shirley’s second visit appeared aimed at challenging that explanation head-on.
During the visit, “David” revealed that he has taken formal legal action against the governor.

“I filed a formal criminal complaint against Tim Walz for violating Minnesota Statute 3.971, Subdivision 9,” David said, adding that the complaint was submitted weeks earlier. “So there’s an investigation ongoing, and I think Tim’s gonna have a bad day, and he deserves it.”
David accused Walz of enabling fraud for political advantage.
“He allowed this fraud because he wanted the voting bloc that the Somalis represent, because they all vote in a bloc,” David said. “And it’s 100,000, 150,000, who knows how many?”
He also suggested that Shirley’s reporting has already rattled those operating questionable facilities.
“But it’s so bad now that when we go to a facility, they’re already screaming ‘Nick Shirley! Nick Shirley! Nick Shirley!’” David said, indicating that word has spread that real journalists are asking real questions.
Following the visit, Shirley posted further allegations on X, claiming the daycare continues to operate despite being shut down.
“The infamous Quality LEARING Center is caught in more lies as they received $1.9 million this year in 2025 and were shut down a week ago according to the Children Commissioner yet they continue to ‘operate’ to try and save face as they have been caught,” Shirley wrote while sharing footage from the return trip.
WE ARE ALL LEARING THE HARD WAY

Shirley also announced that the parody “Quality Learing Center” hoodies are now available for sale, with proceeds supporting future investigations and personal security.
Here is the Quality LEARING Hoodie, thousands of you guys have messaged me about how to support so I figured this would be a fun way, if you would like.

“Quality Learning Center is a massive fraud so obvious they couldn’t even spell learning correctly,” Shirley wrote on the Shirley Defense website. “Remember this moment in history, continue learing and help support citizen journalism.”
“All purchases will go to future videos, exposing fraud and keeping me and David safe,” the site states.
