Actor James Van Der Beek died Wednesday after a battle with colorectal cancer, his wife posted on social media.
The “Dawson’s Creek” star announced his diagnosis in a November 2024 interview with “People” magazine. He was 48 and had six children.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,” a post on his official Instagram page said. “There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
