Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the left’s culture of confrontation has once again spilled into everyday life—this time, right at the lunch table.
According to the governor, what should have been a routine meal with friends at The Croissanterie turned into a politically charged spectacle. Sanders first shared details of the encounter taking to X to speak directly to the public.
The governor explained that she had been dining peacefully with two fellow moms when the situation took an unexpected turn. Roughly an hour into the meal—after food had been served and the bill already paid—the restaurant owner reportedly approached her security detail with a complaint.
“Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave,” Sanders wrote on X.
Despite the claim of discomfort from staff, Sanders noted that not everyone in the restaurant shared that sentiment. In fact, she said several patrons approached her during the meal to express appreciation for her work.
Still, the situation escalated as she exited.
Sanders told The Daily Wire that a group caused a scene as she was leaving, allegedly shouting, “it’s time to leave” and even directing obscene gestures her way.
Sanders didn’t stoop to their level in her response:
“Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant didn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down.”
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Sanders. Back in 2018, while serving as White House press secretary under Donald Trump, she was famously asked to leave The Red Hen due to her association with the Trump administration—a move that ignited national debate. That restaurant ultimately shuttered its doors in 2023.
Meanwhile, some employees from The Croissanterie fired back on social media. One staff member, identified as Zachary Hickman, posted defiantly on Facebook:
“no amount of evil you send our way can ever take our smiles away!!! I’m proud af to work here! I’m proud af to be gay and I’m proud af to be an Arkansan. My voice matters. Try again.”
