Podcast heavyweight Joe Rogan tore into the MAGA movement, mocking parts of its base as “f*cking dorks” and questioning Donald Trump’s handling of tensions with Iran.
The fireworks came during Thursday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where Rogan sat down with comedian and political commentator Dave Smith. What unfolded was a no-holds-barred critique of a political coalition Rogan once helped energize.
Rogan argued that MAGA has morphed into a catch-all club, mixing what he called “real, genuine patriots” with a growing cast of fringe personalities. The result, he suggested, is a muddled movement lacking focus—and standards.
“It becomes a movement of a bunch of fcking dorks because a lot of them are dorks. A lot of them these really weird fcking uninteresting, unintelligent people that have got something they cling to and and there’s a lot of people that are just real genuine patriots and they’re all lumped into this one group and you got to accept the dorks, too? F*ck that!”
Rogan also took a swipe at the slogan that launched a political era. “Make America Great Again,” he said flatly, “sucks,” before offering his own tweak:
“America is great. Make America greater? I’m down.”
His gripe? The slogan’s broad appeal has opened the floodgates. “Like the concept of making America great is a great idea. But as soon as you have a fcking team and you allow anybody to join up, you don’t even have try-outs for your team, so you’ve got a bunch of fcking dipsh*ts that are running around spouting out opinions and you have to go along with them because they’re MAGA.”
Turning to foreign policy, Rogan labeled the Iran situation a “clusterf*ck,” and blasted what he described as religious extremists hitching themselves to the movement.
He singled out “crackpot Christian nationalists” who, he claimed, see conflict with Iran as “a way to get Jesus to return on a white horse.”
The conversation marked yet another break between Rogan and Trump, despite Rogan’s high-profile endorsement during the 2024 election cycle. In recent months, the podcaster has grown increasingly critical—especially over the administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
He previously called it a “terrible look for Trump,” accusing those in power of shielding “powerful billionaire guys.”
Smith, who once backed Trump himself, echoed some of the disillusionment, noting he no longer aligns with the administration on key issues—including Iran and transparency around Epstein. At one point, Smith joked that Democrats are now scrambling to find their own version of Rogan after seeing his sway with younger voters.
Rogan’s response? Pure Rogan.
“You already had me, you f*cking idiots. You just lost your mind. I’m not right and I’m not left. Yeah, I think both of them suck.”
Rogan isn’t picking sides—he’s torching them.

I don’t give a flip what Joe thinks. He’s late to the party anyway. MAGA was a thing long before he ever thought to get on the band wagon. He can go join Tucker and have a party with the foul-mouthed losers.
