Washington, D.C. — The political temperature in the nation’s capital hit a boiling point Tuesday as Democrats launched a full-scale offensive against President Donald Trump, demanding his removal from office after a blistering warning aimed at Iran sent shockwaves across social media.
The controversy erupted after Trump posted a stark and apocalyptic message declaring that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” a statement that instantly ignited outrage on the left—and gave Democratic lawmakers fresh ammunition in their ongoing campaign against the president.
Within hours, calls to invoke the 25th Amendment flooded in from prominent Democrats, many of whom have long sought Trump’s ouster. Critics framed the president’s rhetoric as dangerous escalation, while supporters argue it reflects the kind of hardline posture needed to deter hostile regimes.
Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib wasted no time escalating the rhetoric herself, charging, “After bombing a school and massacring young girls, the war criminal in the White House is threatening genocide. It’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment. This maniac should be removed from office.”
Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar piled on, labeling the president’s statement “sickeningly evil” and demanding immediate action. “Donald Trump must be impeached,” she declared, adding, “When will it be enough for my Republican colleagues to grow spines and remove him from office?”
Other Democrats echoed the same urgency, with Pennsylvania Rep. Summer Lee warning, “This is sick and twisted from anyone, much less the president of the United States. Trump’s genocidal language and indiscriminate warfare cannot be normalized or accepted. He should be removed from office.”
Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan took an even more alarmist tone, posting, “25th Amendment RIGHT NOW! Trump is too unhinged, dangerous, and deranged to have the nuclear codes!”
Georgia Rep. Nikema Williams attempted to channel the outrage into formal action, announcing, “Donald Trump is unfit to serve as the leader of the free world. That’s why I have cosponsored H. Res. 939 Articles of Impeachment to remove him from office.”
But in a twist that stunned many observers, criticism didn’t come solely from the left. A handful of figures previously aligned with Trump also voiced concern, signaling rare fractures within his broader political coalition.
Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene sounded the alarm in dramatic fashion, writing, “25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.”
Meanwhile, Infowars founder Alex Jones bluntly asked, “How do we 25th Amendment his ass?”
Despite the uproar, many conservatives see the latest Democratic push as a familiar playbook—leveraging provocative language to reignite impeachment talk and undermine a president they’ve opposed since day one. To Trump’s defenders, the remarks reflect tough talk in a volatile geopolitical moment, not grounds for removal.
