A chilling, caught-on-camera killing at a Florida gas station is fueling outrage — and putting the spotlight squarely on America’s immigration policies.
President Donald J. Trump set social media ablaze after sharing disturbing surveillance footage of a vicious attack that left a mother and store clerk dead in Fort Myers. The horrifying incident unfolded last week at a Chevron station along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where authorities say the woman was brutally beaten with a hammer in broad daylight.
The suspect, identified as Rolbert Joachin, had previously been slated for deportation in 2022 — but was allowed to remain in the United States under a Temporary Protected Status designation that expired in 2024.
“An Illegal Alien Criminal from Haiti, who was released into our Country by the WORST President in History, Crooked Joe Biden, and the Radical Democrats in Congress, just beat an innocent woman to death with a hammer at a gas station in Florida. The video of her brutal slaying is one of the most vicious things you will ever see,” Trump wrote in a fiery Truth Social post.
He went further, targeting the broader system that allowed the suspect to remain in the country.
“This animal was allowed to stay here because the Biden Administration granted him, and all Haitians, ‘Temporary Protective Status,’ a massively abused and fraudulent program which my Administration is working to terminate, but Deranged Liberal District Court Judges are standing in our way,” he continued.
According to police, the attack was swift and savage.
“The suspect approached the female (the victim) and struck her in the head with the mallet, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect then continued striking the victim approximately three to four additional times while she was on the ground,” the report states.
Authorities later identified the victim as Nilufa Easmin, also known as Yasmin.
Federal officials say surveillance video shows the suspect first damaging the victim’s vehicle before launching the deadly assault. Law enforcement quickly coordinated efforts, locating and arresting him on Mango Street in Fort Myers.
The Department of Homeland Security underscored the brutality of the crime in its own statement: “Surveillance footage showed that Joachin smashed the victim’s car windshield, approached her, and repeatedly hit her in the head with a hammer—violently killing her in broad daylight.”
“This one killing should be enough for these Radical Judges to STOP impeding my Administration’s Immigration Policies, and allow us to END THIS SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL,” he wrote. “To my fellow Republicans, and frankly all Common Sense Americans, NEVER FORGET that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party turned the United States of America into a dumping ground…”
He added a stark warning: “If you import the Third World, you become the Third World, and that is what happened over the four years of Democrat Control.”
Despite the political firestorm, Trump also paused to acknowledge the victim.
“Please say a prayer for this innocent woman’s family,” he wrote, while cautioning viewers about the disturbing footage: “I don’t recommend you watch this tape, because it is so terrible… viewer discretion advised — Not for children!”
Federal officials echoed the criticism of prior immigration decisions.
“This illegal alien barbarically hit this woman in the head multiple times with a hammer,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This heinous murderer was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration… Their reckless immigration policies cost this woman her life.”
