Dem lawmaker makes a case for Sec. Hegseth to be tried and executed like the Nazis

Rep. Seth Moulton decided to crank the outrage machine to eleven this week, hurling one of the most toxic accusations in modern politics—comparing a sitting U.S. defense chief to Nazis.

At a heated House Armed Services Committee hearing, Moulton went after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over the Trump administration’s crackdown on suspected drug-running vessels in the Caribbean. But instead of sticking to policy disagreements, the Massachusetts Democrat went straight for the jugular, tossing around phrases like “war crime” and “murder.”

According to Moulton, targeting boats linked to narcotics trafficking somehow violates the Geneva Conventions—particularly when follow-up strikes are conducted. His claim? That hitting vessels again amounts to executing survivors.

Hegseth didn’t take the bait. Calmly, he shot back that U.S. forces operate strictly within established rules of engagement and defended the professionalism—and success—of American troops carrying out their missions.

That didn’t stop Moulton from doubling down later on CNN.

Asked point-blank by Erin Burnett whether he believed Hegseth was guilty of war crimes, Moulton didn’t hesitate.

“Absolutely,” Moulton responded. “I mean, he’s clearly behind the operation to shoot all these boats in the Caribbean when it’s very unclear that we actually have any confirmation that these so-called ‘narco terrorists,’ a term the administration invented to justify this action, are even on the books. I mean, in fact, there’s a lot of evidence that these are just fishermen, you know, getting jobs, piloting these boats, trying to feed their families. There’s been press reporting on some of these individuals who have been killed who are clearly not war criminals.”

He kept going, painting a grim—and highly disputed—picture of U.S. forces deliberately targeting survivors:

“And on top of that, we then have the strike where they came back in and hit it again, a double tap, just purely to kill these survivors who were clinging to wreckage,” he continued.

And then came the line that raised eyebrows across the political spectrum. Moulton invoked World War II, claiming Allied forces prosecuted Nazi submarine commanders for similar tactics—and didn’t mince words about the outcome.

“And guess what the conclusion was? They got executed,” Moulton told Burnett, adding “Listen to that, Mr. Secretary.”

That’s right: a sitting member of Congress effectively suggesting America’s defense leadership belongs in the same category as executed Nazi war criminals.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon maintains the strikes are aimed at disrupting organized trafficking networks that fuel violence and instability across the region—not targeting innocent fishermen, as Moulton claims.
