‘I’ll tell you to shut up again’: Nancy Pelosi explodes with nastiness on ‘pillow man’ reporter

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi looked less like a seasoned stateswoman and more like a politician with a short fuse Thursday when she found herself cornered by a reporter asking uncomfortable questions about January 6.

The California Democrat unloaded on Lindell TV correspondent Alison Steinberg during a fiery confrontation on Capitol Hill, repeatedly ordering the journalist to “shut up” and “get away from me” as questions mounted over the long-running controversy surrounding National Guard deployment during the Capitol riot.

The tense exchange reignited a debate that has lingered for years among conservatives who argue that key questions about security decisions before and during January 6 have never been fully answered. Multiple congressional investigations, however, concluded that authority over National Guard deployment in Washington rested largely with executive branch officials and the Department of Defense, not Pelosi herself.

Still, Steinberg wasn’t interested in talking about official reports. She came armed with questions that have circulated in conservative media circles for years. “Last time I asked you about January 6, why you turned the National Guard away on January 6, you told me to shut up and that I was repeating Republican talking points,” Steinberg began.

Pelosi didn’t hesitate. “And I’ll tell you to shut up again because you’re speaking lies, and I don’t have anything to do with it,” the former speaker fired back.

When Steinberg attempted to challenge Pelosi’s response, citing comments she believed contradicted the Democrat’s position, Pelosi dug in. “No, I did not admit it. The president never sent– would agree to send the National Guard. Don’t waste your time or mine on you,” Pelosi said.

The confrontation only grew more combative from there. Steinberg shifted gears and asked another question that has fueled years of speculation among Pelosi critics: “Why was your daughter filming you on January 6?”

Pelosi’s patience appeared to evaporate. “Why don’t you get away?” she shot back.

As Steinberg insisted she was asking questions “the American people want answers to,” Pelosi escalated matters by attacking the reporter’s credentials and employer. “You know what, I don’t even think you’re a real journalist. You work for Mike, pillow man?”

Steinberg confirmed that she did. “Actually, I do, and we’re very proud—”

Pelosi cut her off again. “Yeah, I don’t consider that journalism. Mike the pillow man, that’s not journalism. I don’t have any reason to talk to you.”

The exchange took an even more sarcastic turn when Steinberg quipped that MyPillow founder Mike Lindell “would love to give you a free pillow.”

Pelosi wasn’t amused. “You should record this. I want people to know that you’re not a real journalist. You work for Mike the pillow man, and all you do is spout untruths. Get away from me.”

Steinberg responded calmly: “You can insult me all you want, but—”

Pelosi interrupted one final time. “Get away from me.”
