BS WIRE: Fox News – Accused Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson fights back as prosecutors’ sprawling case comes into focus

PROVO, Utah — The man accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is set to face a week-long preliminary hearing beginning Monday, giving the public its most detailed look yet at the evidence prosecutors say ties Tyler Robinson to one of the most shocking political killings in modern American history.
Robinson, 23, stands accused of murdering Kirk during a September 2025 event at Utah Valley University, where the conservative activist and commentator was speaking before thousands of students and supporters. Prosecutors allege Robinson fired a fatal shot from a concealed rooftop position before attempting to flee the scene and cover his tracks.
The hearing is expected to feature testimony, forensic evidence, digital communications, and witness accounts that prosecutors believe establish probable cause to move the case toward trial.
Unlike a grand jury proceeding, the preliminary hearing will play out in public, allowing defense attorneys to challenge witnesses and evidence for the first time.

The case has become one of the most closely watched criminal prosecutions in the country, not only because of Kirk’s national profile but because prosecutors have alleged the attack was politically motivated.
Kirk’s family is expected to attend the proceedings. “Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend and father,” Kirk’s wife, parents, and sister said in a statement released ahead of the hearing. “Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children.”
The family added that they remain “deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness” they have received since the assassination.
According to court filings and previous disclosures, prosecutors plan to present a broad range of evidence.
Investigators allegedly recovered Robinson’s DNA from the trigger of a Mauser rifle believed to be the murder weapon, a towel wrapped around the firearm, several rounds of ammunition, and a screwdriver found near the alleged sniper position.
Authorities also claim they have digital evidence, including text messages, Discord communications, and alleged admissions made after the shooting.
Among the messages expected to be discussed is one prosecutors say Robinson sent after the attack. “Stuck in Orem for a little while longer yet,” Robinson allegedly wrote. “Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still.”
Prosecutors also allege Robinson left behind a handwritten confession and attempted to persuade others to destroy evidence and delete communications connected to the case.
One of the most significant witnesses remains Lance Twiggs, identified in court records as Robinson’s roommate and romantic partner. While Twiggs is reportedly cooperating with investigators and has received limited immunity, prosecutors are expected to rely heavily on statements he provided to law enforcement.
The defense has already signaled that it intends to challenge key forensic conclusions, including ballistic evidence linking the fatal bullet to the rifle recovered by investigators.
However, prosecutors maintain that the totality of the evidence—including DNA, electronic records, witness testimony, and physical evidence—creates a compelling picture of guilt.
If the case advances and prosecutors ultimately prevail at trial, Robinson could face the death penalty on the top charge of aggravated murder.
The hearing is expected to offer the clearest picture yet of what investigators believe happened in the moments before and after the assassination that stunned conservatives across America and transformed Charlie Kirk into a martyr for millions of supporters.
Let’s start with the obvious. Charlie Kirk wasn’t just another political commentator.
He was one of the most influential conservative voices of his generation. He built Turning Point USA into a movement, inspired countless young Americans to engage in politics, and spent years doing something the Left absolutely hated: winning over young people.
If prosecutors are correct that this murder was politically motivated, then America isn’t looking at a random act of violence. We’re looking at an assassination.
And that’s a word many in the media still seem uncomfortable using.
Imagine for a moment if the political identities were reversed. Imagine a prominent progressive activist had been gunned down while speaking before thousands of supporters. Cable news would still be running wall-to-wall coverage. There would be documentaries, commissions, congressional hearings, and solemn lectures about extremism.
Instead, much of the establishment moved on surprisingly quickly. The facts, however, haven’t moved on.
