Hunter Biden sparks outrage with ‘closeted gay mafia’ claims about Lindsey Graham

by

BS BRIEF

  • Hunter Biden made remarks about the late Sen. Lindsey Graham during a podcast appearance, claiming Graham was part of what he described as a “closeted gay mafia” in Washington and asserting that “everybody knew” Graham was gay.
  • The comments come just days after Graham’s death on July 11, with the South Carolina Republican’s preliminary cause of death identified as an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
  • The controversy arrives as Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, launches her campaign to retain the Senate seat, following her appointment to complete the remainder of her brother’s term after receiving President Trump’s endorsement.

HUNTER BIDEN STIRS NEW CONTROVERSY WITH CLAIMS ABOUT THE LATE LINDSEY GRAHAM

Hunter Biden is facing renewed scrutiny after making personal claims about the late Sen. Lindsey Graham during a weekend podcast interview, remarks that quickly spread across social media and political circles just days after the South Carolina Republican’s death.

Appearing on the progressive podcast I’ve Had It with Jennifer Welch, Biden discussed what he described as a network of closeted Republican politicians in Washington before specifically naming Graham.

Hunter Biden said:

“I know for certain—and I’m not kidding now—that there is, and everybody in D.C. knows this… there is like this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in Washington D.C., and everybody knows every single one of them who’s gay.”

Biden argued that internal conflict among closeted politicians fuels hostility toward others.

“I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person that they take it out on the rest of the world.”

When podcast host Jennifer Welch asked directly, “Lindsey Graham?” Biden responded:

“Yeah. Of course.”

He continued:

“Everybody knows that Lindsey Graham was gay.”

Biden added:

“The only reason it’s relevant is because they seem to do everything that they possibly can to take out their inability to know and live their true life on everybody else.”

Welch agreed with the premise, arguing that the issue mattered because, in her view, Republican lawmakers have supported policies affecting the LGBTQ community.

Neither Biden nor Welch offered evidence supporting the claims made during the discussion.

Graham, who represented South Carolina in the Senate for more than two decades, died July 11 at age 71 after what his office described as a brief and sudden illness. Preliminary findings from the District of Columbia medical examiner concluded he died from an aortic dissection caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. A final death certificate remains pending while routine testing is completed.

The comments surfaced as South Carolina Republicans prepare for a special election to determine who will complete Graham’s political legacy. His sister, Darline Graham Nordone, who was appointed to temporarily fill the seat, announced this week that she will seek the Republican nomination after receiving encouragement from President Donald Trump.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there had been no public response from Graham’s family regarding Hunter Biden’s remarks.

MY TAKE:

You don’t use the death of a political opponent to launch into personal gossip that can’t be proven.

Apparently that memo never reached Hunter Biden.

Whether Lindsey Graham was gay or wasn’t gay is frankly beside the point. Hunter Biden presented speculation and Washington rumor as established fact about a man who is no longer here to answer for himself. That’s not courage. It’s not journalism. It’s not even politics.

It’s cheap.

Imagine the media reaction if Donald Trump Jr. had sat on a conservative podcast a week after a prominent Democrat died and casually began discussing that person’s private life based on what “everybody knew.”

CNN would interrupt programming. The New York Times would publish editorials about dignity and decency. Cable panels would spend three straight nights discussing the collapse of American discourse. Instead? Many of the same people who lecture America about “respect” are strangely quiet.

Hunter Biden also tried to make a broader political argument—that Republicans who oppose progressive LGBTQ policies secretly hate themselves. That’s an old partisan talking point dressed up as psychological analysis.

You don’t need a psychology degree to recognize it for what it is. When you can’t debate someone’s ideas, attack their personal life. That’s apparently the strategy.
