(The Center Square) – U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs defeated U.S. Rep. David Schweikert with 71.5% of the vote in the Arizona Republican primary for governor.

Polls predicted Biggs, R-Gilbert, would win by as much as 50 points, but he did better than that, with a 55.8-point margin. Schweikert. R-Scottsdale, got 15.7% of the vote.

Gov. Katie Hobbs ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. After Tuesday’s election, it’s clear Hobbs and Biggs will face each other in the Nov. 3 general election.

This is a developing story.
