The playful stunt unfolded during Fox & Friends Weekend, where the hosts were celebrating classic fair attractions. Before delivering the pie, Lara teased Failla by saying, “I’m going to take it easy on you,” before planting the dessert squarely in his face.

“I was lied to,” Failla joked afterward. “They’re like, ‘You can have pie!’ I got pied alright.”

Fox News later replayed the moment in slow motion on social media with the caption, “PIE HARD!” while viewers flooded the comments with laughing emojis and calls for more appearances from Lara. Failla kept the jokes rolling, quipping that producers had apparently abandoned their efforts to get him to take Ozempic and had instead decided to “feed” him on live television.

But the lighthearted television moment was only half of Lara Trump’s Saturday.

Later that evening, on My View with Lara Trump, she sat down with Secretary of State Marco Rubio for a discussion centered on Iran and U.S. foreign policy. Asked whether denuclearization could be achieved without regime change, Rubio responded that while overthrowing Iran’s government is not America’s stated objective, “the regime has to change” because Tehran’s leaders continue trying to export their revolution throughout the region.

The interview immediately drew predictable criticism from liberal commentators and social media users, who argued that a member of the president’s family interviewing senior administration officials represents a conflict of interest. Similar criticism accompanied the launch of Lara Trump’s Fox News program when she joined the network after serving as Republican National Committee co-chair.

Supporters, meanwhile, dismissed the complaints as little more than partisan outrage, pointing out that Lara has never hidden her relationship to President Trump and that her program is openly opinion-driven rather than presented as a straight-news broadcast.

Watching the media react to Lara Trump is almost as entertaining as watching Jimmy Failla get hit with that pie.

When she’s joking around on a Saturday morning show, she’s accused of making light of politics. When she interviews the Secretary of State, suddenly she’s supposedly the greatest threat to journalism since movable type.

Here’s the reality, nobody tuning into My View with Lara Trump thinks they’re watching PBS. They know exactly who she is. She’s not pretending to be an anonymous beat reporter hiding behind “sources familiar with the matter.” She’s a Trump, she hosts a conservative opinion show, and she interviews people from the administration. There’s no mystery here.

The funniest part? The same crowd screaming “conflict of interest” rarely had much to say when friendly interviewers lobbed softball questions at Democratic administrations for years.

As for Jimmy Failla? He took the pie like a pro. In politics, that’s still less messy than most Sunday shows.
