BS BULLETIN:
- Page Six reports that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is expected to end when Kimmel’s current contract expires in May 2027, citing a source who says his deal “is not getting extended.”
- ABC is flatly pushing back, calling the report “inaccurate” and saying that “any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”
- The conflicting reports arrive as Kimmel begins another season after more than two decades at ABC — and after the network temporarily suspended his show last year during a controversy over comments concerning Charlie Kirk’s killing.
Is Jimmy Kimmel really approaching his last call at ABC?
Page Six dropped the bombshell Tuesday, reporting that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is expected to end in May 2027 after roughly 24 years on the air.
“His contract is not getting extended,” an unnamed source familiar with the situation told the outlet.
ABC says: Not so fast.
“This information is inaccurate,” an ABC Entertainment spokesperson told multiple outlets. “Any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”
That leaves Kimmel in an unusual television limbo: a report saying the end has essentially been decided and his own network saying no such conclusion should be drawn.
Kimmel’s current deal runs through May 2027. The late-night host has long had more flexibility than most television personalities when negotiating his future, and he has publicly contemplated retirement before.
In a 2024 interview, Kimmel said he thought his then-current contract might be his last — while acknowledging that he had made similar noises before and kept coming back.
The latest speculation also arrives during an unsettled period for traditional late-night television.
CBS ended Stephen Colbert’s Late Show earlier this year, while Kimmel’s own relationship with ABC went through a highly publicized crisis in September 2025. ABC temporarily pulled Kimmel’s program following controversy over remarks he made about reactions to Charlie Kirk’s killing, before returning the show to the air less than a week later.
Page Six reports that, according to its sources, any decision to end Kimmel’s program would be driven by financial considerations and corporate restructuring rather than his political battles. ABC, again, disputes the larger premise that the show’s fate has already been decided.
For now, Kimmel remains behind the desk.
Whether he’ll still be there after May is where the two versions of this story dramatically part company.
MY QUICK TAKE:
Page Six says goodbye. ABC says nonsense. Kimmel still has a desk.
See you in May.
