Former NASCAR champ with Epstein ties breaks silence: ‘Prepared for war’

Former NASCAR driver Brian Vickers, the 2003 Busch Series champion, issued a rare public statement Monday after his name and communications appeared in Epstein-related records released by the Justice Department earlier this year.
Vickers said he had “nothing to do with the mess left by others” and declared himself “prepared for war” against anyone he believes threatens his family. He did not mention Jeffrey Epstein by name.
Vickers was married to Sarah Kellen, a former Epstein assistant who has faced allegations in litigation concerning Epstein’s operation. Vickers and Kellen divorced in 2025. Neither Vickers nor Kellen has been criminally charged in connection with Epstein’s sex-trafficking crimes.

Former NASCAR champion Brian Vickers has spent months largely silent as newly released Jeffrey Epstein records brought renewed attention to his past connections with the disgraced financier.

Now he’s talking.

And his message includes three words guaranteed to get attention:

“Prepared for war.”

Vickers, 42, posted a lengthy and cryptic statement Monday that never actually names Epstein but appears to address the scrutiny surrounding him.

“I have stayed quite for too long now,” Vickers wrote, apparently meaning quiet. He said his hope that “love would prevail in silence” had not been answered.

Then Vickers addressed the allegations surrounding people in his orbit more directly.

“I had nothing to do with the mess left by others,” he wrote, adding that he wished for peace but was “prepared for war against any that threaten my family.”

The statement follows the January release of millions of pages of Epstein-related records by the Justice Department. Vickers’ name appears repeatedly in the material.

The records include emails involving Vickers, Epstein and people connected to Vickers’ racing career. One 2013 exchange concerned fears that Vickers’ association with Sarah Kellen could create problems with prospective NASCAR sponsor Aaron’s after reporting about Kellen’s relationship with Epstein surfaced.

Other released material includes a sexually explicit “fairy tale” email forwarded by Vickers to Epstein and a 2019 email in which Vickers wished Epstein a happy Valentine’s Day.

None of that establishes that Vickers participated in Epstein’s crimes, and Vickers has not been charged with any Epstein-related offense.

His connection to the story largely comes through Kellen.

Vickers and Kellen married in 2015 and divorced in 2025. Kellen worked as an assistant to Epstein and has been accused in lawsuits and other legal proceedings of helping facilitate his operation. Kellen has disputed criminal wrongdoing and has also described herself as an Epstein victim. She has not been criminally charged.

Vickers was once one of NASCAR’s prominent young drivers. He captured the 2003 Busch Series championship and eventually won three Cup Series races before health problems repeatedly interrupted his career. His final Cup appearances came in 2016.

His new statement doesn’t explain the individual emails or precisely identify the “mess left by others.”

Instead, Vickers ended with an appeal for a “more gentle world,” while simultaneously making clear that there are limits to how gentle he intends to be when it comes to his family.
