BS BULLETIN:
- A man in firefighter gear confronted a pro-Palestinian protester dressed as Elmo near Ground Zero during Friday’s 25th anniversary of 9/11.
- Video shows the man calling the protester “anti-American” and unleashing a profanity-filled tirade.
- FDNY says the man is not and has never been an FDNY member and appears to be affiliated with another fire department.
Of all the things you might expect to see near Ground Zero on the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, an Elmo costume and a Palestinian flag probably aren’t high on the list.
But that’s what confronted one man in firefighter gear Friday — and he had some thoughts.
Video circulating online shows the firefighter confronting a pro-Palestinian demonstrator dressed as the bright-red “Sesame Street” character not far from the 9/11 Memorial ceremony. The exchange was captured on video posted by Turning Point USA and journalist Jonathan Choe.
The firefighter didn’t bother easing into the conversation. He called the demonstrator “anti-American” and told the protester, in considerably more colorful language, to go back to Palestine.
Then he expanded the guest list.
The man told the protester to take former President Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez along, before declaring that none of them were “good.”
NEW: A NYC firefighter just unloaded on a pro Palestine activist in an Elmo costume.

The video then shows him walking away. Someone can subsequently be heard shouting that Jews are committing genocide, although Fox News reported that it wasn’t clear who made the remark.
The confrontation happened just blocks from where Americans had gathered to mark 25 years since terrorists attacked the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001.
Turning Point USA described the incident as frustration from people attending the memorial service “spilling over.”
Despite the man’s firefighter uniform and the New York City setting, the FDNY told Fox News that he isn’t one of theirs.
“We are aware of the video circulating of someone wearing a uniform having a verbal altercation today,” the department said, adding that the man “appears to be from another fire department” and “is not and has never been a member of the FDNY.”
The confrontation occurred as political leaders and families of victims gathered at Ground Zero for the anniversary observance. Mamdani, Hochul and Ocasio-Cortez — three of the politicians the firefighter mentioned — were among those attending the ceremony.
And somewhere amid one of the most solemn commemorations in America, a Palestinian-flag-waving Elmo managed to become part of the day’s news.
MY QUICK TAKE
Only in 2026 could you write the sentence: “Firefighter gets into political argument with pro-Palestinian Elmo near Ground Zero.”
And nobody asks whether it’s satire.
The firefighter certainly didn’t seem interested in tickling Elmo.
