BS BULLETIN:
- NBC10 Boston initially featured jurors from the Lindsay Clancy trial describing their deliberations and frustration with the lone holdout.
- The station then investigated that holdout juror’s personal history, reporting past domestic-violence allegations, an active restraining order and an eviction dispute.
- Critics — including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — say the stark difference in treatment looks less like reporting and more like punishment for reaching the “wrong” conclusion.
If you want a snapshot of why Americans distrust the media, NBC10 Boston appears to have just provided a remarkably convenient one.
After the Lindsay Clancy murder trial ended in a mistrial, NBC10 interviewed three members of the jury who had favored finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. The station presented them discussing the painstaking deliberations, their sense of civic responsibility and their frustration with the lone holdout juror.
NBC10 courtroom insider Sue O’Connell described the jurors as “very deliberate,” saying they carefully reviewed evidence, listened to one another and took their responsibility seriously.
The holdout didn’t receive quite the same treatment.
Days later, NBC10’s investigative team went digging into his personal history.
Are the NBC10 Boston “investigators” going through the lives of ALL of the jurors – or are they only looking at “the black dude” the only “person of color” on the jury – who didn’t go along with the “majority” who wanted to let her off the hook with a “not guilty by insanity”…

The station reported that the unnamed man had previously faced a domestic-violence charge involving his former wife, although that case was dismissed. NBC10 also found that his teenage nephew had obtained a restraining order against him and that he was involved in an eviction case over thousands of dollars in allegedly unpaid rent.
NBC10 said the discoveries raised legitimate questions about jury selection because Massachusetts’ standard juror questionnaire asks prospective jurors about arrests, criminal charges and court orders. The holdout’s answers to that questionnaire have not been made public, so it remains unclear what he disclosed during jury selection.
🚨 UPDATE: They’re not just smearing him now.
People are telling the lone Clancy holdout to SUE NBC after that “investigators exclusive” dumped his dismissed 2021 charge, divorce, and private court records on air.
Charge was thrown out. He was never convicted. Still they put it…

But the dramatic difference between the two approaches quickly attracted attention.
“A man objected to allowing a woman to kill her three young kids and get away with it, so NBC is trying to smear that juror, whose identity should be protected,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wrote on X. “Another low for legacy media.”
He then offered the juror an unusual escape plan. “If the juror is being harassed, Florida will provide asylum — I’m sure he’d be welcomed and appreciated.”
Clancy admitted killing her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — but her attorneys argued she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors argued that she knew what she was doing.
After seven days of deliberations, the jury remained deadlocked, and a mistrial was declared. Other jurors have since publicly criticized the holdout. Foreperson Roni Carlson told NBC10 that he acknowledged having reasonable doubt but still refused to vote for a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity verdict.
Another juror called him “arrogant,” while juror Nick Dargie later alleged that the holdout sometimes refused to engage with the others and behaved disturbingly with an exercise band that had been entered into evidence.
The holdout himself has not publicly told his side of what happened inside the jury room.
MY QUICK TAKE
Maybe NBC’s investigation uncovered legitimate questions about jury selection. Fine. But when the guy who won’t go along with everybody else suddenly gets the full Dateline treatment, people are going to notice.
And boy, did they notice.
