Trump piñata loses its head at California college as students cheer

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • Viral video shows a Trump piñata being struck and decapitated at Contra Costa College in California.
  • Students can be heard cheering as the headless piñata is raised into the air.
  • The college says it doesn’t condone violent political rhetoric and the incident was handled as a personnel matter.

A California community college is facing scrutiny after newly surfaced video showed a piñata resembling President Donald Trump being beaten and ultimately decapitated as onlookers cheered.

The footage, posted this week by Libs of TikTok, was recorded at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California.

A blindfolded participant can be seen being spun around before being handed a stick and directed toward the Trump piñata.

The figure is dressed in a blue suit and red baseball cap and holds an anti-ICE sign.

After several swings, the piñata’s head comes off.

Another person then picks up the headless figure and hoists it into the air as people gathered around cheer.

Libs of TikTok identified Contra Costa College counselor Lorena Gonzalez as appearing in the video and alleged that she was overseeing the activity and celebrated afterward.

The college responded to the controversy by distancing itself from the display.

Contra Costa College said it does not “condone or allow violent political rhetoric” and said the incident had been “addressed as a personnel matter.”

The school did not disclose what personnel action, if any, was taken.

Fox News Digital reported that the college and Gonzalez did not respond to its requests for additional comment.

The timing comes with an important caveat: The event itself apparently wasn’t recent.

Libs of TikTok said it took place “a few months ago” and that the account obtained the footage only last week.

The White House nevertheless responded after the video began circulating.

Spokesperson Davis Ingle said anyone who engages in or endorses what he called “political violence or assassination culture” should be condemned.

MY QUICK TAKE

Apparently “addressed as a personnel matter” is college-administration speak for: Please stop asking us exactly what happened.

Nothing says healthy campus political discourse quite like blindfolding somebody, handing them a stick and pointing them toward the president’s head.

Maybe next semester they’ll try debate club.
