CNN boasts about its ‘fair and accurate reporting’ — White House responds with the video receipts

CNN defended its “fair and accurate reporting” after President Trump announced the network was banned from the White House.
The White House Rapid Response account answered by circulating a compilation of CNN clips and controversies.
More compilations followed Saturday as CNN correspondent Betsy Klein confirmed her White House credential had been deactivated.

CNN probably knew President Donald Trump wasn’t going to let the words “fair and accurate reporting” pass quietly.

It didn’t take long.

After Trump announced Friday that CNN, MS NOW and Politico were being barred from the White House over what he called their repeated “FAKE NEWS” reporting, CNN issued a defiant response.

“We stand fully behind our White House team and their fair and accurate reporting,” the network said.

CNN added that it has a constitutional right to conduct that reporting without government interference and called Trump’s threatened ban an “illegal assault” on a fundamental First Amendment right.

Then the White House Rapid Response account entered the chat.

It responded to CNN’s statement with a video compilation highlighting past CNN coverage that the administration says undermines the network’s claim of fair and accurate reporting.

By Saturday, more compilations were circulating.

One widely shared video assembled years of CNN controversies and disputed coverage, while another targeted the network’s reporting surrounding Iran.

The White House has also created a “Media Offenders” page cataloging stories it considers misleading or biased. CNN appears repeatedly on the administration’s list. Meanwhile, Trump’s threatened ban officially became more than a Truth Social post Saturday morning.

CNN senior White House reporter Betsy Klein said her credential had been deactivated.

MS NOW correspondent Akayla Gardner said she was also turned away and required to surrender her badge, while Politico said White House reporter Cheyenne Haslett was denied entry and had her credential confiscated.

All three organizations have condemned the action and said they intend to defend their First Amendment rights. CNN media analyst Brian Stelter called Trump’s move “a direct threat to press freedom in the United States.”

Trump, meanwhile, has shown no indication that he’s reconsidering.

“Our country has to have honest news,” the president said Friday while explaining the decision.
