President Donald Trump walked into the United Nations Tuesday and discovered something he apparently wasn’t expecting.
CNN.
Specifically, Kaitlan Collins.

Collins approached Trump as he entered the U.N. and tried to question him about new CNN polling showing two-thirds of Americans surveyed don’t believe the United States is winning the war with Iran.
Trump had another subject in mind.
“I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me,” Trump told her.
Collins immediately supplied the explanation:
“The United Nations allowed us in, sir.”
Trump wasn’t finished.
“You should not be here covering me,” he responded. “You said you weren’t going to cover me. You shouldn’t be covering me.”
Collins went right back to her original question.
“Two-thirds of Americans don’t think that the U.S. is winning the war with Iran. When will it end?”
“We’re making a lot of progress,” Trump answered. “Our country is doing really, really well. Thank you very much.”
The exchange was the latest chapter in Trump’s rapidly escalating battle with CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
The Trump administration barred reporters from all three organizations from the White House beginning Saturday.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico responded Monday by filing a federal lawsuit alleging that the administration retaliated against the outlets over their coverage. The administration maintains that it has authority over access to restricted White House spaces.
As The Daily BS has been following, the dispute quickly expanded beyond those three organizations when the major television networks suspended traditional White House pool coverage in solidarity.
But there was one problem with extending Trump’s ban to Tuesday’s encounter.
He wasn’t at the White House.
The United Nations controls credentials for journalists covering events at U.N. headquarters, meaning CNN could still credential Collins and its other reporters regardless of the White House restrictions.
CNN also made an unusual decision regarding Trump’s U.N. address.
The network did not carry the speech continuously live, saying it was monitoring Trump’s remarks and would bring viewers “any newsworthy moments as they happen.”
MS NOW took a different approach, carrying roughly the first 20 minutes before cutting away for live fact-checking.
And, as The Daily BS reported Wednesday, that produced its own memorable moment when Stephanie Ruhle subsequently had to correct one of the fact-checks.
So the media war that started at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has officially traveled to Turtle Bay.
Trump can keep CNN out of the White House.
The U.N., apparently, did not get the memo.

This exchange really didn’t need a punchline. Trump: “You shouldn’t be here.”
Kaitlan Collins: “The United Nations allowed us in, sir.”
